Zaino and General Questions

Hello everyone. New to the forums and just wanted to start off by saying hello to everyone. I had some questions. I just started to get into really detailing my car and have ordered a few products but was wondering somethings. First off I have Adams Car Wash, Adams Revive, Adams Swirl Removal, and the butter wax. I also purchased the PC 7663. I was thinking about trying to detail some cars on the side for extra cash. First off I will tell you what the process I have been using with little amount of products I do have. First I wash the car real well with Adams Car Wash, Dry, Clay Bar it, combine the Adams Revive with the Swirl Remover, and apply it with the PC on about 3-4, then top it off with some butter wax. I did this process on my own which is a Silver Metalic color and came out ok but not very impressed but I do love the detail spray from Adams. I also did this on my cousins car which is black and little if any swirl marks, surface scratches came out at all. I know prep is the key to a good finish and thats what I'm trying to learn right now but need some good products and some key instructions that have proven well from your own experiences. This is what I am thinking about ordering. Mainly I will be trying to do darker color cars if possible because I just love the way they look when detailed right which I know I shouldn't/Don't expect all dark color cars to be detailed by me. I have seen the "Pro Detailers" work around here and to be honest it sucks. I know I can do better. I have been thinking about ordering the following. First I was thinking about ordering Zaino ZFX, Z2-Pro, and Z8, Klasse All-In-One, Poor Boys SSR2.5, and SSR1, also the Backing Plate and pad combo from Adams Polishes, also I was thinking about ordering UPP. Can all of the above be used together on one car for a nice end result or should I be leaning twards other products or what. Need some advise on a good amount of things.

I can tell you what my products are and I'm extermely happy with the results. I get the depth, clarity and shine I'm after. I have a Silver 2005 Chrysler 300c. All the products work togther.

First off, sorry for posting in wrong place. Second I have been reading and was wondering what everyone thought about the products I am currently thinking of. I don't think I will go with Zaino, just not sure I will be happy with it on my car, maybe on my cousins (black) car but not mine (silver metallic) I am looking for a more mirrored/wet look than anything but I really like it to be mirrored looking. That's the look I'm looking for. Here goes (in order)

Wash the car with NXT
Clay with the NXT wash after I rense off the first wash
Apply a coat or two of AIO to get things real clean and everything else removed.
Apply SSR2.5 by PC With the Pad/Backing Plate Combo from Adams Polishes
(Might order the Sonus DAS Pad Kit not sure what I want to spend tomorrow)
Then Apply SSR1 by PC with one of the pads mentioned above
Not too sure but pretty positive I should do the AIO before the SSR right?
After the SSR1 apply 1-2 coats of either UPP or EX-P (Not sure which one I will like more so not sure which I will purchase - need to decide today though.)
Then top it off with either Natty's or P21S. I have Adams Butter Wax but I think I will be happier with Natty's or P21S. I've seen some pics. on here and other places and they are outstanding. Love em. A few questions real quick. I'm learning so hang in there with me ;-). Which pads do you think I should order and would be happier with as my skills progress, the Plate/Pad Combo from Adams Polishes or the Sonus DAS Pad Kit from Autopia? If others please recommend by all means but I think I'm pretty stuck on the Sonus DAS Pads. If I were to go with the Sonus DAS Pads which ones should I use for the AIO/SSR1-2.5/UPP-EX-P. I will most likely apply the P21S r Nattys by hand because of it being a Paste. I was thinking I could get away with using say a foam applicator pad that you can purchase at wal-mart to apply the klasse. If it puts any marks into the car they will be removed with SSR so I should be fine on that unless I should use the SSR before the Klasse which I think that isn't the order I should go. Might be wrong though. Any thoughts are appreicated.

First, :welcome

After your wash and your clay,
Then you would apply:
SSR2.5 with a polishing pad
SSR1 with a polishing pad
AIO with a polishing pad
UPP or EX-P with a finishing pad
wait 24 hrs and apply second coat by hand
LSP by hand

If you are going to reuse the same polishing pad for different products (try not too) make sure that they are well cleaned before going onto the next product, you don't want to undo the work you have already acomplished, so If you're ordering pads get a few polishing pads :D

If you apply the AIO and then your SSR's you will remove any protection that the AIO is leaving behind

Good Luck,

Sounds good. I know alot of people prefer UPC over Klasse AIO or vica versa and was wondering a couple things to clarify which one I would be happier with for what I want. Mainly I want something that is going to clean real well, give a nice mirrored finish and something that will repel water or bead, whichever is technically correct and something that will last a long time. I also been reading that it is not a good idea to apply a wax ontop of the UPP because you want to re-apply the UPP say once a month or so to give it that extra protection and if you applied wax you would need to remove with AIO. What I'm wondering is this. My dad has a white 2000 Toyota Celica GTS and was wondering sence he takes it to car shows and does very well by the way would it give it a more mirrored/wet look if I applied some wax ontop of the upp. I was thinking about applying 2 coats of upp for him before we take it to the show and because he doesn't drive the car that much and is pretty much garaged which wax for the white would in you alls oppinion give the best results? Also, I was thinking about ordering the Sonus SFX Foam Pad Kit from Autopia and was wondering what people think about it and would you recommend something else? With the products I will be using which pad from that kit or whatever pad/kit you recommend would you use with what product and I might just be ordering the kit with no extras, I might though, just not sure yet. How would you go about cleaning the pads in between the aio, ssr, upp, upc, and ex-p? I was thinking about this process for the black car.

Wash
clay
ssr2.5
ssr1
klasse aio
upc
then two coats of upp. Sound good and for my car and my dads which mine is silver metallic and his is white I was thinking.

wash, clay
ssr2.5
ssr1
klasse aio
ex-p

and for his top it off with some p21s wax sence he just purchased some. Any comments recommendations are 100% appreciated and encouraged ;-)

Appearance is subject to individual taste.
You are right that after you apply a carnuaba over a sealant you have to remove the wax and start over.

What I can suggest is thatyou go through your process and see if you like the results with 2 the coats of UPP, then you could apply a wax topper to one section to see if you like it, if not you only have to redo the one section :D

Good luck and don't forget to take some pics

I can't comment on the sonus pads, but I'm sure that others here that have used them will.
If you want to know how to clean your pads I would recomend looking in the " Car Polishers, Buffing Pads & Accessories" section, the are a few threads in there regarding cleaning.
Your line up looks good for the black, but I would use either UPC or the AIO, no reason to bother with both.

Everything sounds good and was just wondering what everyone thought about my thoughts on the detailing.

For one I think I am just going to purchase things for my car mainly (Silver Metallic) Intrepid and was going to do my mothers car for her birthday and hers is black and gold metallic. This is what I was thinking

Wash the car with NXT
Clay the car
SSR2.5 on 6 with the PC and with the Green/Orange pad from the Sonus SFX Kit? Which one?
Follow that up with SSR1 with the Green/Orange pad from the Sonus SFX Kit? Which one?
Then apply Klasse AIO with a damp foam applicator pad that I can get at wal-mart and wipe each and every panel off ass I go with a MF polishing towel (Any recommendations on any applicator pads for stuff like applying waxes because I think I will be doing everything with the PC besides applying wax *If I apply any waxes* and remove everything by hand, not the PC. Not sure if I want UPC or Klasse. Still not sure which I will be happy with and might just by both.
After applying either Klasse AIO/UPC I will be applying either UPP or EX-P (Heard some people mention EX-P+ but haven't seen it on autopia, autogeek, pac, pr top of the line - where to buy?)
I don't think I will be purchasing any waxes at the time because from what I hear I don't really need them unless I want some extra depth/shine/gloss or whatever and if I want the protection from a sealant like upp/ex-p I can't apply any additional coats of upp/ex-p without removing the wax/sealant with aio/upc or something. Just my thoughts. Any thoughts and recommendations on pads/usage and with which product/speed with PC would really be appreciated. Not sure how I should be using the pads with the pc with the combinations of products I have mentioned. Thanks in advance.

Well, I talked to Dwayne @ PAC and just placed an order. Here is what I ordered:

6" Backing Plate for PC
6" Orange Pad
6" White Pad x 3
6" Black Pad
SSR2.5
SSR1
UPC
UPP
UGE

Can't wait to try out and any tips/tricks or recommendations are totally welcome.

I think I got the basics down but just want to be sure I have everything down so when I go to do the detail I will be happy with the results.

I purchased the 6" pads/backing plate from Dwayne @ PAC. Kinda wish I would have went with the 2000 Edge Pads. I tried to get a hold of him before he left but think I was too late so I'm awaiting the pads I originally ordered. Maybe they will be good pads, atleast for starters I hope. Any thoughts on the pads would be nice before I get them. Anyhow, on to the procedure:

Wash the car with NXT
Clay with Maguiars Clay Bar (Don't really like it, kinda hard to knead - will be purchasing a new one after that one is no good. Was thinking about Adams Clay Bar)
Then SSR2.5 with the Orange Pad on 4 then work my way to 6 (Paint isn't too bad but from sertain views it looks kinda bad but pretty well covered up with the Metallic)
Then from what I keep reading it is a good idea to move onto SSR1 to finish things up. Same as above with PC on 4 work my way to 6 but with the White Pad.
Then I was going to use UPC with the Black Pad (what speed?)
Then UPP with PC and the black pad (On speeds 3-4)

I think I got it all down. I should remove the SSR2.5/SSR1 as soon as I apply one section of the car correct? Another question is the UPC. How long should it sit on the paint before removing? And can I use the same Black pad I used with the UPC with the UPP or should I clean the pad prior to the UPP application?

Polish a 2x2 area, then remove polish. I personally dont go over speed 5 very often.

Use a polishing pad with paint cleaners, speed 4.

Use a clean pad with your wax or sealant. speed 3 or 4.

Sounds good. I hope everyone that had fireworks this weekend had a good/safe weekend and for those who will celebrate tomorrow have a safe and fun day. Tomorrow means a little more than we want to think considering everything thats going on over seas! So On to the detailing. I can't wait to get everything. Should arrive Wed/Thursday.I don't have a digital camera but will borow someones to take some images before and after. i was just wondering if there are any pics. posted on this site with this combination of products so I can get an idea of what mine might look like. A silver metallic one of course but if not thats cool, I'll see soon. Would be nice to get an idea though. Dwayne @ PAC actually got my message before he sent everything out but he said I would probable be happier with the LC 6" pads from his site. Hope I enjoy everything.
