Zaino a topper for AIO?

Hey guys,
just wondering if any of y'all have topped AIO with Zaino Z-2 before? I am doing a new car this week and he wants his wheels protected with Z-2. SO I figure just hit them AIO to remove any films and cosmoline, and then layer Zaino over it. What do you think, any bonding issues?

Andrew

there might be a bonding issue so to be on the safe side after AIO do a wipe down with IA because Z2 is water base and Im not sure if AIO is oil base so use the IA and you should be ok.

I know lots of people who use AIO as a base for Zaino. It works fine. Klasse AIO is probably one of the only products that is friendly with Zaino other than Zaino. Die hard Zaino nuts have told me that, so I have no choice but to believe it.

AIO works fine under Z. In fact I haven't found anything that AIO didn't work well under.
Absolutely!
I have used it under several different sealants and waxes with excellent results. It seems to be a great cleaner/base for anything.

FWIW, I at one time thought it left better protection than it was given credit for, but....When I used it alone on one black mirror on the van and used AIO/UPP on the other, the AIO was gone in about 3 weeks. That wasn't what I expected at all.

When I first started testing Zaino, I did a layer of AIO underneath on my trunk lid only. I think its okay but not recommended. This panel looks a shade darker than my non-AIO panels.

the AIO was gone in about 3 weeks

I got 3-4 months life using AIO in 2005 under Souveran but that was on paint, not mirrors.

Souveran doesn't last 3-4 months, so how did you gauge the durabilty of the AIO? If you renewed the Souveran every month then it wouldn't really tell you how the AIO is doing.

The mirrors were shiny plastic, but I don't really know if they were painted or not. It was a Pontiac minivan and I don't think they were painted.
The AIO on the one mirror was the LSP, nothing over it.
It was disappointing to me since one of the reasons I used AIO was because I felt it would add some protection. I no longer feel that way, but AIO is still my favorite cleaner/base for LSP's of any type.

With AIO under Z2 you are just fine. You might not get the absolute optimal results (longevity) out of it, but only us nutjobs on these detailing sites would notice any such slight differences.

Go for it.
