Z8: Does it layer? (Zaino gurus)

I just applyed some Z8 yesterday after my wash. I was wondering if Z8 is layerable. It is a spray sealant per se. But I would think that with its thin watery-like consistency that it is not able to layer. I would assume that it slowly diminishes until next wash. Bt maybe I'm wrong. Would 2 coats of Z8, one after another give 2 layers of Z8? Would 2 applications or more, give better protection?

Then I was also wondering if Z8 has a cleaning ability? If it does then the layering question is answered!

Most sealants are of a more "watery" consistency as they "chemically" bond, not "physically" like carnauba. Carnauba layering actually increases the thickness of the layer of protection whereas sealants, IMO, just form a stronger bond.

With all sealants, in theory, you will have to let it bond 12-24+ hours before adding any additional protection.

I have found Z8 to have NO cleaning ability. I apply it after I wash/dry weekly and have found it to leave marring behind if I try to remove contaminants with it.

Honestly, I will only use it after washing or applying Z, but for me thats perfect. I'm not a big fan of S+W'ing a dirty car and if I do, I will use S+W or QEW, not a QD/Spray Sealant.

Z8 will not layer if applied back to back. One can increase protection if Z8 is applied after 24hrs.

Z8, like its QD and sealant cousins Z6, Z2-PRO and Z5 have zero cleaning ability. All of these products are intended to be applied "safely" to a clean surface only.

I find I can layer Z-8 if I wait just 2 hours. I takes an hour to crosslink in my experience.

Z-8 is a real sealant but in QD form.

Thats interesting, how do you know how long it took to cross link?

I've been experimenting with Z8 and layering...

My process has been 2 layers of Z5, then 2 layers of Z2 Pro.

On half the hood I applied Z8 one time.

On the other half, I would apply Z8, then wait 24 hours, apply Z8 again (3 applications ub 3 days)....

I could see a visual difference, although it didn't really show up on digital camera.

I'm not sure you could call it "layering", but it's definitely adding protection.....

. ;)

I've been using Z8 on a Jaguar every week and after the 2nd week, I have noticed no drop off in the slickness from week to week. I don't know if that specifically means it layers but the added sllckness has some durability.

Two ways...I heard this from a friend who frequently speaks with Sal and is a Zaino expert. Plus, you can feel the slickness set in.

I really don't think you need a full 24 hours...

Like Scott, I have also noticed the improved durability with Z-8. :)
