Z8 and Z2-Pro is making me lazy

My biggest problem with the Zaino system is the infrequency in which I must re-apply the LSP for maximum visual enhancement. This is a good problem for someone like myself that loves having my vehicles looking their very best every day.

Now with the introduction of Z8, my Z2-PRO and the joy of the act of applying a LSP is almost non-existent. Let's face it, we love to wax.

This lack of need for LSP "POP" rejuveniation is directly related to the outstanding results, for me, that Z2-PRO produces with just 2-3 coats. No more chasing the added depth by multiple layering or even a carnuaba topper.

Z8 just adds to the problem. Wash and apply Z8 and BAM!! Stunning results that last.

What's a Autopian to do? Will Zaino's durability of protectant and appearance and the easy application of both these factors using a QD format be it downfall? ;)

Just rhetorical questions and my experience over the last 6 months.

Has anyone else notice these findings?

this is intended to be a survey type thread, please no negative comments if you have not or will no use the discussed products. My results may not be universal, so I am seeking other experiences. If your LSP system of choice is giving similiar results, let us hear from you also. We are always seeking info.

I don't think what you've described will lead to Z's downfall. Z's real bread and butter are the guys on the car boards who apply layers and layers of product regardless of how good their Z already looks. I doubt PRO and Z8 will change this. And I doubt if many of them will shell out for Z8 as well. They'll probably just spend the money on another bottle of PRO.

I understand what you are talking about. I last polished and Z5'd my car on December 1st. With Z6 and the addition of Z8, my car is still beading very nicely and has a freshly detailed appearance.

The past 6 months (including the winter) have taken it's toll, and it's time to attack those spiderwebs that have developed (probably through lazy technique). I guess it's not all bad. I have a good reason to use the Z-PC and test some other new products :)

I've had lots of very good experiences lately with all sorts of products and brands. Zaino just always performs to the expected high standards and lasts longer than anything I've used.

Z8 gives my customers something to use for maintenance, so I'm grateful for that. But even though it rocks and leaves a slick surface, it isn't as deep and wet as Pro on it's own.

lol. Yea i had the same feeling, so i made myself try out some RMG and Blue Natty's. I actually felt kinda sad taking off my Zaino lol, but im happy i did ;) :)

Been there and done that. :D

It is hard to climb down from the highest peak when there isn't in sight (I tried about everything and every trick) on the present horizon that forfills my needs and expectations. :xyxthumbs

You guys gotta quit talking about the new Z products. It's making it more and more tempting for me to turn to the dark side and add Z to my full shelf of products already. :)

LOL, that's NOT a good thing unless they're on the "family" discount.

Yeah the dark side is calling....must resist...oh what the heck I have everyother product out there why not zaino too :)

That's a good thing IMO! This should be old news for long time Zaino users. As easy as Zaino is to apply and remove, it's not as quite as easy as something like FMJ or UPP. And still, 1 coat of FMJ is more slick than Z2Pro and looks a bit better IMO. Less reflectivity, but more liquidy. Z8 goes a long way towards bridging the gap. Haven't made up my mind on this completely yet, but suffice to say that the two products provide different looks.

However, I continue to use Zaino for its durability. While other products tend to fall off quickly, Zaino keeps going. So it actually looks great for months while other need to be reapplied.

Once in a while I top Zaino with a liquid polymer like FMJ just for fun. IMO there are too many good products out there for frequent waxers to only use Zaino. Of course you could always add a coat of every couple months or use Z8 every wash.

I must confess...........I'm a carnauba junkie. I just love the looks of a quality carnauba on dark colored paint. Like I've stated many times on threads here, I'm waxing just about every 2 weeks because it's relaxing & I just love it. When I bought my 05 Tacoma in late October of 2004 I ordered up about $120.00 worth of Zaino. ( ZFX,Z2 Pro,Z5,Z6,Z7,Z12,Z16 ) I was all a tither when my Z order showed up within 3 days of placing my order. I washed, clayed & polished my new black Toy then applied 3 coats of Z5 followed by 3 coats of Z2 Pro. I was simply stunned by the results. Shortly there after the new Z8 was released. Yep..........Had to get me some of that as well. I felt like Emeril after I applied the Z8! "BAM!!!!!!! ANOTHER NOTCH!!!" I was blown away by the Zaino system. During the nasty pollen season here in West Texas, I was washing the "BlkTac" atleast twice a week. The washings did nothing to effect the Zaino'd finish on my truck. Didn't break down the Z like frequent washings sometimes do to carnaubas. The Z is bullet proof. It's almost TOO good. After a month of resisting the urge to wax, I found myself quite restless. After all, I spend every other day off detailing my truck. With the Z I didn't have to. Another month went by.........simply using Z8 after washing just wouldn't scratch my itch. Out came my jar of Souveran! Another week went by.......All the Chemical Guys talk was flying around Autopia. I ordered some Butter Wet Wax. Apllied that over the Souveran which was over the Z. I was drooling! UH OH!! The new DP Max Wax is out......AND IT'S ON SALE!! Got me a jar of that, too! Put a layer of Max over the BWW which is over Souveran which is over Z5/Z2 Pro/Z8. Needless to say, my truck looks amazing. My new Z-PC will be here tomorrow so I'm gonna be stripping the "BlkTac" & going back to the Z5/Z2 Pro/Z6/Z8 combo. ( Atleast until I need another carnauba fix! )

Amen, I am kind of mad at Zaino, My car looks so awesome all the time with out spending hours on it. I wash it then Z8 it to perfection. :spot

I totally understand what you're saying blkZ28Conv. My last full blown detail was Columbus day of '04. I did an overhaul type session over a few days. I've gone from then until early this spring by with just washing and QDing until I noticed that the paint was in need of something. This was with the old old Z2 and Z5.......so I guess with Z2Pro, I'm going to end up doing an overhaul once a year since I bought a garage too :).....man, I'm going to forget how to do this...lol

After a road trip and multiple washings during the trip I feel that my car needs more Zaino. It's part of the ritual upon coming home to do a thorough detailing and then apply Z5/Z2-Pro interspersed with Z6 and then topped with Z8. One look at the car and I'm convinced that it's definitely needed. The car looks downright incredible. Red is such a rewarding color to work with.

I have been very happy with the results of Zaino products. The only thing that bothers me is that Zaino shows so many imperfections that i end up prepping the vehicle more meticulously each detailing session. Consequently, each detailing session gets to be longer and longer to get the look that Zaino system provides. This is not a complaint. Just an observation. Anyone else notice this?

Hahaha....I like this thread.

I also get the detailing itch after doing minimal maintenance on my layers of Zaino. Several times, I've ordered new products and stripped off the Z.

No matter how many new products(LSP and nuba) I try, I always end up going back to Zaino in the end. :xyxthumbs

It looks as good as I could expect any product to, and the durability is unmatched! I also place faith in the UV protection; I don't want a faded car in 5 years. :nervous:

Zaino rocks, IMO.

:dance

Great point Drewski! What attracted me to the Zaino was the UV protection. Blazing hot sun down here in Texas. Like you, I don't want my black paint to fade prematurely.

It's that way with any high quality sealant, not just Zaino. For a product to "hide" it has to have fillers which are junk= cheap product.

Did you not like Natty's Blue?

you can always use the good non filling products for the basecoat and use a spray wax with some fillers on top to cover what little micromarring you might have
