Z06, Viper, and an Altima SE-R *56K* eh

EBPcivicsi

GOT PREP?
If you can’t understand why I love detailing after looking at these pics, well you’re crazy!! :grinno:

First up, a black Altima SE-R with a bit of swirls and marring. The car has been well maintained and just needed a little correction done. Very nice car, I really like it.

For the paint the process was:

Wash

Clay

Buff with a 50/50 mix of optimum polish and optimum compound via the rotary polisher and a polishing pad @1400 RPM’s

Apply Meguiars #80 speed glaze via PC with a polishing pad @ speed 5

Apply two thin coats of Meguiars #21

I also wet sanded one small area on the rear quarter panel where a ladder fell on the car. The scratch could not be completely removed, but was improved. I used Meguiars unigrit 3000 grade paper.

I cleaned the glass with NXT glass cleaner and a microfiber towel

Wheels sealed with #21 as well

Tires dressed with Meguiars all-season dressing.

The interior was vac’ed

cleaned with Costco APC (10:1)

leather was dressed with Lexol

So on Sunday I detailed a Z06 AND a viper, poor me. ;) This was an eleven+ hour detail (for both vehicles), but I loved every minute of it!!!

First up the vette, it had moderate to heavy swirls and marring and need to be deep polished. Every time I forget just how hard the corvette clear coat is, I detail one and I am reminded that I need to bring out the big guns. :)

The final process was:

Wash

Clay

Buff with rotary polisher and Meguiars #85 diamond cut @ 1700 RPM’s with a blended wool/synthetic pad

Buff with rotary polisher with 50/50 mix of optimum compound and optimum polish @1400 RPM’s with a polishing pad

Apply Meguiars #80 via PC and a polishing pad @ speed 5

Apply tow thin coats of Meguiars #21 including the wheels and calipers

Interior was vac’ed and wiped down (no pics)

Here’s the viper, no before—I see it failry regularly, but I am trying to work on his washing habits.

The process was:

Wash

Clay

Buff with rotary polisher and polishing pad with 50/50 mix of optimum compound/optimum polish @1400 RPM’s

Apply same product via PC and a polishing pad @speed 5

Apply two thin coats of Meguiars #21 to all surfaces

Meguiars all-season dressing on tires

Engine for both cars was degreased with Costco APC 10:1, then dressed with eagle one pro water based dressing:

They all look very good! Don't you just love that vette clear. If the vette clear was a 10 where would you rate the viper clear?

 Awesome work on all three! Amazing improvements on the Corvette and Altima!

I take it you like the Optimum Polish/Compound mix? I've found it very effective on GM's hard paints.

Thanks man, yeah I really like the 50/50 mix, IMO it's like OP squared. :D

gmblack3a, 10.5? :D No, they are really close though IMO, the viper clear is *very* hard--at least in my experience.

Looks great as usual Joe :xyxthumbs That 50/50 mix sounds interesting.

I'm curious, I see many of your details are performed at home in your driveway. Do the owners drop off the cars and get a ride home? Or do you drive them home, or pick up the cars and park your car there and drive them back to your home?

Thanks Seth, these details were done at the home of the owners, but I do get a fair share that are dropped off to me. I would say the for 60% of my details I go to them, and 40% bring the cars to me. When they bring the car to me they either hang out and watch, or have someone follow them for a ride home. I do offer a discount when they bring the car to me, *much* easier.

Scott, exactly, even on black. :D

How do you like durability of #21? Also how easy its it application.

Viper looks unreal.

Andrew

I find it outstanding, one of the most durable products that I have used.

Application is a breeze, as is removal--I love it.

In fact, once I have a chance to go through my stuff, I will be selling all of my LSP's except #21, Z2PRO, and a few "neat" nubas.

nice job...

however the viper...they spend so much $ on the car and leave a crappy NOS install :down

I don't think he's too worried about the look of the bottle--he pulls it to refill *really* frequently. :D

fantastic work!!!!!!!

All look excellent!

What do you use to apply 21?

I "have" to use my pc to get an even coat - otherwise I am buffing extra big time. :D
