Z-8 w/ Other Products

I'm getting ready to do the whole spring cleaning thing. I have quite a bit of Klasse SG left from last year that I might as well use. I was wondering if anyone has applied Z-8 to other sealants. Does it work?

One other quick question, if I am going to be hitting th ecar with the Orange/Yellow pad, is it still necessary to clay first?

I too wondered about this combo - I have heard that the Grand Finale is absolutely out of this world, but wondered if it is ok to use as a qd for other sealants or carnubas.

Z8 also works great with the Klasse Twins & Chemical Guy's Micro Seal. Like Scottwax said, it also works great with Werkstatt's AJ. I love Z8 with Acrylic sealants. As for using Z8 with carnaubas.......I've only used it over a carnauba a week after the initial layer. Seems to work just fine. Z8 also works well with FX-100 & CG's Extreme Top Coat Sealant, WG & UPP.

Z8 is a outstanding product but when I used on a fresh RMG/Souverian it was like finger painting with smears. I ended up with a IPA wipe down and had to redo RMG/Souverian. I have used it on UPP and Z2Pro and it works great, I would stick with using it on sealants only.

Thanks for the responses guys! What about my question regarding the clay?

If you have not clayed....DO IT!!

It will take away product that you do not even know is there. It will enhance your detail.

Just do one side with clay and one side without. I would be very surprised if you could not see, feel or tell the difference.

But won't the PC do more than the clay. If you think about it, you are taking out swirls that are below what the clay can even touch. Doesn't it just make clay a waste of time then?

The short answer....NO.

The clay takes out things that a swirl remover only moves aropund in a best case scenerio. Worst case is that it will marr the surface when polishing. Clay is money will spent. If taken care of properly it will last a long time and do a multitude of cars.

Clay is not for scratches, not supposed to be. Ever wash your car and still felt little bumps? That's why clay is for... and as just about everyone who's ever used it will tell you, it IS money well spent, like the other guy said.

I used clay last time, I just didn't really know if it was worth it. I'll do it again.

Unrelated, I'm in Endicott as well.
