if you dont use zfx can you apply z5 then z2 right after eachother or do you have to wait 24hrs? i dont want to use more of the zfx unless i have to. i just want to put a quick coat of the two on but dont want it to streak if i dont use the zfx. let me know

I have found that ZFX lasts a really long time for me. You just have to get used to how much product you use so you don't waste it. Once ZFX is mixed in, you either use it or lose it. Once you do the initial application with say 2-3 coats of Z5 or Z2 with ZFX, then a week or so later you may want to add a coat of one or the other without ZFX....maybe a few weeks later add another. Etc. until you reach your desired glow.

I don't use ZFX anymore. I really didn't find it made a difference in my drying times, especially for what it cost - it takes a LOOOOONG time to dry, with or w/o ZFX. Humidity is your enemy. I also no longer use Z5, but for multiple coats of Z2, I'll put a coat on in the evening, then let it dry over night, put the 2nd coat on the following morning and buff it out that evening, or the next morning if I can afford the time. I don't usually go with 3 coats; I'll finish off with a buffing of Z6 spray.

I don't think it has anything to do with drying times... ZFX makes it bond instantly to the paint, therefore allowing you to apply multiple coats right after another without waiting 24 hours.

ZFXâ„¢ is a Zaino Show Car Polish cross-linking and acceleration additive. It offers near-instant cure time, reduced surface distortion, enhanced polish flexibility, and improved bonding to both paint and additional layers of Show Car Polish. In simple terms, ZFXâ„¢ vastly improves paint surface appearance and increases polish durability.

@ Frugle: It does the stuff you mentioned, but does accelerate drying as well. In the Zaino write ups they mention several times that with ZFX you will need to move on to a next coat immediately or if not to wash your applicator due to increased drying time and the applicator getting crusty fast.

Recall as well that the full title is "ZFX Flash Cure Accelerator Additive". As to the other benefits mentioned above, it's hard for me to say conclusively, but I certainly don't find it makes a big difference, if at all, and definitely not enough to justify the cost. Maybe it depends on what you're starting with in terms of the prep you've put into the clearcoat.
