Every one has a process, and incorperates differant steps with differant products. I basicly.........

1 clean/prep using clay

2 polish-Meguiar's #7-Zymol creme & liquid-Duagloss-Liquid Glass

3 sealer/glaze-MOTHER's SG-Meguiar's SG-Klasse SG

4 polish more polish/ polish again (differant products)

BLACKFIRE in near future

5 Wax & wax & wax & wax-Zymol carbon-Pinnacle souveran-One Grand Blitz

I have noticed there are many beginers and people who just don't know where to start, or what process. I thought it would be usefull to submit a guide line of the steps & products from differant sources. The vets may pick up on some things too.

Right now I have different steps for different cars.

On the M5 I:

Clay

SMR if needed

Paint Cleaner or Glaze(PCL if I feel it somehow still needs it)

then Souveran x as many as I feel like till i think it needs to start over.

On the 328i:

Clay

SMR

PCL

Klasse SG x5

Souveran

and the 325IS is the same as the M5

For the Interior I use 303 on the dash etc, when needed Leatherique on the seats, steam clean the carpets once every month or so(have access to own steam cleaner so its easy), Plexus on plastic parts and EF Clear Vision(or wahtever its called) for glass. Occasionally I will use Newspaper and Distilled water for windows.

My car is only two months old and I am new to Autopia so I am still experimenting with many name brands.

This is what I did this weekend and a PIC of the results.

1. Washed with DAWN (to remove Gold class application I had for temporary protection).

2. Did the sandwich bag test for impurities.

3. Used Clay Magic and Lube for needed areas.

4. 1x coat of Klasse AIO.

5. 1x Klasse SG .

6. Vinylex on tires and Lexol treatment on seats.

I applied Vinylex on dash last week and did not like the glossy shine it left . I am waiting on soe Aerospace 303 to give that a try

I started a bit late so I got caught under dimming daylight which interrupted me doing a 2d coat of SG later in the day so my 2d coat is gonna have to wait.

I plan on doing two more coats of SG and Top it off with some PS21 I have. I intent to use EF Clear Pearl as QD after the topper.

here is the result of day 1.

Beginners and newbies to this site need to spend some time doing research. A purchase of David B's e-book, The Autopia Guide to Detailing is a must for any detailing newbie. It'll help 100 times more than any thread will. I think even the first 8 chapters are free so no excuse for not being able to afford it.

At the very least a beginner should read all the articles linked from the Home Page of Autopia.

The steps that everyone uses varies with the condition of the paint on their vehicle. For example, let me show you the steps I used to clean the Maxima.

a) Washed with Meguiar's Gold Class

b) Cleaned wheels and tires with EF HI

c) Clayed wheels and body with Clay Magic

d) 1x Klasse AIO

e) SG Rims

f) Clean glass with Stoners and a YoSteve MT

g) Cleaned vinyl with Lexol Leather Cleaner

h) Treated Vinyl with 303

i) Treated tires with Vinylex

j) Waxed with Souveran

Doing my pastor's Concorde will involve a few additional steps:

a) Finesse It II

b) 3M SMR for light colored cars

c) Klasse Sealant Glaze

d) EF Tar Remover
