You won't believe this

Took my black vette to get some dinner with my girlfriend tonight. You know, the one that never sees rain, dust or bugs because it's a garage queen. When I came out from dinner there was a note on my drivers side window that read " If you're a guy, my name is Kerri call me". Well, my girlfriend and I laughed and went home. We did notice a bunch of teenage girls hanging around the front of the restaurant just prior so we figured it was just one of them who wrote the note. However, when I got home my garage lights illuminated my hood and guess what? One of the punks decided to use my hood as a slip and slide and marred and scratched the **** out of it. Words cannot capture the dissapointment and frustration I feel right now. It's going to take many hours to correct this and some of the scratches are right through to the primer. I can't believe this.

sorry to hear about that patrick. some people these days, have no respect for others property and jealousy plays a role in it too. hopefully, you can polish out most of the damage, good luck with that...

Ouch, sorry to hear that those punks ruined your night. I know how that feels to have your car vandalized for no good reason other than someone else being dumb and insensitive to other people's property. Sometimes I wish I could resolve things my way, but then again I'd rather not end up in jail as someone's bi+ch.

"Sometimes I wish I could resolve things my way, but then again I'd rather not end up in jail as someone's bi+ch." Yeah, I'm too small to go to jail. Oh, and that's an exit not an entrance.

Sorry to hear it! Maybe call the person? They may have some idea who did the scratching?

Exactly. I would call her. Just be all sweet to her and ask her some questions about her, act like you are interested. Then say something about it looks like someone slid across your hood and then ask if she saw anything.

Hell yeah, call and ask if they could meet you at a public place, have a mini recorder and talk nice to them, gain their trust a bit and casually ask if they saw anybody on the hood of the car? Be sure to act like it ain't a big deal. You may get lucky and get a name, oh, and if you have any friends - friends of a friend, in law enforcement - see if they can arrange to be near by. Kid probably didn't mean to damage your car, just doesn't know any better, and a little talking to by a cop and maybe get the parent involved could make big difference. When I was a teenager, back when cars were made of steel and bodyshops pounded out dents instead of replacing the beer can sheet metal they use today - we didn't think twice about sitting on a fender. That old single stage paint was tough! I use to use the hood of my Chevy as a bed when I took a chick parking in the summer, had one a little like Dolley Pardon put a dent in it! But it popped back out.

LOL, i wonder where that came from.

Saddened me to read your story. None the less that is one of the reason my Z06 see very little road time. Never to the mall or any event that does not allow 100% visibility. I rather leave it in the garage and enjoy the activities I am partaking. Restaurant are one of the worst places to park a nice vehicle. Kids and elderly opening doors like they haven't eaten a meal in weeks, teenages hanging out and jealous wish-I-had-one that would take pleasure in ruining your day.

Good luck with fixing the hood but if some are down to the primer, I am afraid it may mean a repaint.:sadwavey:

This hood never leaves my site when away from home!!!!

I feel your pain man! I walked out of Target last week to see this...

The thing is I park really far away so some had to make a special effort to come over and key the damn thing. I'll never understand people...

Thanks for all the great tips and advice everyone. I'm glad I have this community to rap with when things aren't going so great. Almost all of the scratches came out with the exception of 1 small one. I must say that one post in particular made me feel a whole lot better. Well, actually it's the avatar of Jesselyons2002. Holy mackeral, what a nice distraction. Thank you.

"Oh look at that guy with the nice shiny car parking all far away from everyone. He deserves to get his car keyed..."

Yeah... it sucks. I got one on my Z but was able to polish it. It was more like someone ran their nails across the side.

Aw man that sucks :( Sounds like you were the victim of a photo opportunity. Almost like some one sat on the car while some friend took pictures  I see it all the time with nice sports cars parked in public places.

Sorry violentveedub.

I guess I am not as paranoid as I thought.:help:

That act makes no sense!! What goes on in a mind of someone that would do this to anything let alone a parked vehicle.:wall Is their life that bad? Have they no remorse?:grrr

So what did you do to fix this?

That poor Rabbit! That really sux to you ViolentVeedub

Ptaylor, that also sux. I was at a college visiting some friends Thursday and noticed a hand print/wipe mark on my hood the next morning. The worse part was my car was dirty, luckily it didn't marr the paint (I have no clue how it didn't).

I laid on a beach in the Dominican Republic for a week! It's easy to forget about when you are 1000's of miles away...

I haven't tried to touch it up yet... my deductible is 500 so I'm not going to claim it.

I'm getting some custom work done in the spring so I'll have this repainted as well, for now I'll have to try my hand at the fill and sand touch-up. I'll post up the process/results when I get around to it.
