Yard/ Intersection sign ideas.

Concours.John

Auto Detail & Restoration
I had a couple of these made. This is the trial run. I did all the layout and had them produced by Vistaprint. The are perfectly visible at 25ft if stopped. (size 18x27) There are a few key places where people will be sitting that allow this for now.

I'm already re-thinking about script size. Any ideas suggestions welcome.

These will be an area where there is an income/cars to support what I do. I just want to branch out to the public more. My biggest problem is getting the most info with few words; as I can also fully restore a vehicle also.

I'm not looking to displace someone who may have just one toy.

If anyone is thinking about these they were half what local shops were quoting (less than 20 vrs 35-40 ea)

I like the idea and the sign looks good. I have two issues with it, though, for your consideration.

Those of us here know who you are and what you do, but to the average Joe who glances at the sign for 2 seconds may not be getting the message. I would move the "Premier Auto Detailing" up and increase the font on that to be almost as quick and easy to read as your name.

Some people don't bother to actually read the words of signs at a glance, but they do see pictures. A picture or outline of a car of some sort would at least give the general subject so those who are car people might look a little closer.

I can fully agree with you. Most people in my area know me by name. Concours.John was a nickname among some. I want it to be a mindset not just a business name. I myself after seeing it in person was wondering about font size and placement. I'm even thinking of dropping the dashes on the phone number and going with periods?? Thoughts

I think they look good. I can see how the font could stand to be changed. If it were a bit bolder or larger it might be better. With that said the sign does look good. Vistaprint did a nice job

I don't know that periods would make it much different but there does seem to be an excessive amount of space between the sets of numbers but it is a minor issue.

Those signs look nice, but I agree with Nth, it's too much detail. I'd just put your name and what you do with your phone in big bold letters and nothing else. If people are the least bit interested they will call...

Had an additional thought late last night on this.

Are you advertising for people who already know you are there or are you advertising to make people aware of you?

I have to agree with this. At my first glance it looked a tad busy. The auto detailing should be larger. People are only going to have a few seconds to look at this, if they are driving by. You have to capture that in that length of time. Phone number should be the large as well

I do like the marketing approach.

Thanks for the thoughts/ideas. These first two I think now will be for flanking the booth at shows. (All foot traffic) Possibly also at a few local self spray washes once a deal is made. There is a banner opportunity there also.

Before I have more made for road use I was starting to wonder. Great input as always! Any more ideas feel free. Thanks again!

Its kind of both. There was a fairly large following while at the shop. Several still don't realize I'm still around. I was also under the name of the shop.
Mentioning names and contacting people personally is touchy. Although they no longer go there they are considered still clients of the shop. I'd also like to stay within that market. Bringing in general detailing will be for adding employees.

More then likely they'll end up in a garbage can. If the land owner doesn't pull them, your competition probally will :lol2:

Looks nice, but the largest font needs to let folks know that its a sign for detailing.

Also check with your local govt. around here you get fines for advertising like that, and it makes you easy to find!

I may need to elaborate. All of my marketing is placed with business owners on their property with permission.

As far as removal everyone I've delt with has cameras (mostly auto related) on their lot. If some competitor wants to remove it that bad ok. Here it's theft to remove property. At least to me it's not worth having theft on my record if caught. Minor offense or not. I'm aware it can still happen.

I like your design but I really think it would benefit you to have a website address on there. If I put myself in the shoes of a customer looking at your sign, I would be much more likely to remember a web address than to stop and write down the phone number. This will vary from person to person but why not cover both angles?

If you don't have time to get a full site going yet, I'd recommend just registering an address you like for long-term with godaddy or one of the dozens of similar places to register web addresses easily. Many will have a pretty minimal fee and free forwarding... meaning that until you get a full site going, you can just set it up to auto-re-direct straight to your facebook page.

I didn't know about forwarding. I purchased the domain Concoursjohn.com for several years already. Still working on site layouts.
Thank you for this info.

I definitely would make 'Premier Auto Detailing' a larger font right below your name. And keep it white. Red on black is hard to read.
