Steel Wool on leather? C'mon man... Xzilon is kinda like the Simoniz System 5 crap that Dealerships try to sell for $300-$500 after selling a car claiming that protection lasts up to 5 years. They may not be bad sealants, but no way do they last anywhere close to 5 years or worth that kind of money.

Xylon? Well,a BMW dealership I did some work for upcharged for it.
Can't speak to it's validity,but it seemed hoaky to me.

I don't see where the OP stated he was given any 5 year warranty? He said a "detailer" appllied this, so I'm assuming that it was an independent shop. Regardless, the product won't hurt your paint and is just as decent as pretty much all the other sealants on the market. If a warranty was given, make sure you follow its maintenance guide/instructions closely and file a claim and/or return back to the original installer if you feel the protection drops off. The companies that warranty this product make huge margins betting that nobody will file a claim when the product wears off. When someone does, they won't honor it because the care guidelines were not followed.

A fellow empoyees wife bought a Mercedes from the dealer new. They wanted to put the Xzilon on for $500. I found it on Ebay or $50 and ordered it for him. It's a very thin clear looking product. IMO not worth the money nor do I believe it will last 2 months. Let alone 5 years. I have used DWG,and WGDGPS.and I think both these products are better than Xzilon by far!

Xzilon I have applied this product many times on many cars at a dealership back in the day. Its sealent isn't as bad as people claim. I have seen at least 9 months of protection come from it. That was one of my own personal vehicles. The interior leather conditioner they have is real nice also. The Xzilon company only focus's on dealership places and detailers can't get it. Basiclly the whole kit cost a dealership 140.00 and the upcharge it to a suggested retail price of 400.00 Its another dealership add on that isn't worth it at all! Your better off finding a reputable detailer and have him make you car right!

Every protection contract is different. Some times the manufacturer warranty info is different that what the dealer offers. Some cover acid rain damage, some water beading, some paint delamination, some paint fading. They are all different. Some application centers use a certain product and not it's warrant and end up self insuring themselves because these warranties tend to never be used.

You're right about that. 99% of the time NOTHING is told to the person buying it! Many times customers don't even know their vehicle is protected with any kind of sealant , better yet with any kind of warranty.
Thanks for the clarification on the product. I don't give a hoot about the warranty as I would never allow a vehicle to go more than say, 6 months. I was willing to try anything to battle against the de-icer they use on the roads around here. As far as the steel wool, I saw 2 detail shops us the steel wool with a liquid cleaner as a initial clean on leather. Didn't seem right to me, but they swear by it?

Most detail shops place speed above technique when it comes to detailing cars. They probably use steel wool because it cuts through dirt faster, not because it is safe for leather.
