Hey everyone,

Today i used XMT 360 on a black jaguar. I was quite impressed with its correction abilities, or maybe just filling abilities??

Anyways, I finished up the car and went out in the sun to take a look. I noticed 4 or 5 holograms mostly on the doors of both sides of the car. It freaked me out!! I dont know if it is possible to do that w/ XMT 360 anyone have any suggestions?

I was using a white 5.25" LC CCS pad, on speed 5 and doing 2 semi slow passes then buffed off what was left.

Sorry no pic, i forgot my camera! (of course)

I really cant fathom that this combo would leave holograms!!!

Is jaguar paint soft?? anyone ever have this happen to them!!

I just did a Jag a couple weeks ago and it had moderate to heavy swirling which I was able to correct fully with a PC. The paint isn't as soft as say, Honda, but it's not too terribly hard either.

I would have never imagined a white/360 combo would cause holograms either.

It sounds to me like you didn't work the product in enough, might that be the cause of your problem?

Maybe you used too much and didn't get all the excess off and just smeared it. That will leave a hologram appearance but if you just hit the areas with QD and an MF, it fixes it.

Hey scott, i thought thats what happened because yes, as i was pulling the pad off when i turned off the pc i would notice some smearing that was hard to get rid of.

I hit the spots w/ a QD and mf and got some of those hologram looking smears out, but there are 3 that i just cant get out, do you have any other suggestions?

was the insasne amount of dusting a result of too much product as well? I thought i used to much, but when i "primed" the pad I put a good amount on the pad and after the first pass there was just a big red spot in the middle of the pad, so i kept applying the same amount for each panel. The pad never really became saturated, but it dusted like crazy which is a good indicator of too much product right?

Also, does 2 passes sound about right for this product, seems like the xmt dissapeared after 1-2 passes on speed 5??

Thanks alot for your help scott and rkf!!

I think that a semi-abrasive product such as 360 may need to be worked in alot longer that 2 passes. I know Justin30.. uses it alot and he may chime in and help. I would reccomend buffing until the residue is almost translucent, then buff with the best MF's you have that you reserve for paint.

after 2 passes the product is gone. The directions on the bottle say to work it until its disappeared and that was 2 passes for me...

I dont know, it definitely felt weird to do only 2 passes, but thats what the bottle said...,

Scottwax hit it on the head, I used to much and smeared it, and it looked like a hologram. now how i get them off the paint is another question?

Hope scott is reading this!

Thanks

Jim

I have not seen anything like that with 360...Including when you did your truck with it over at my house...I think you might have used too much. So the Jag was black huh? What did you use for the LSP?

Am I the only one that wasnt impressed with XMT360's correcting ability? I used it on my 2007 Black Lexus ES350 and on my 2006 Black Lexus GX470 both had some minor swirls and the XMT360 didnt do as good a job as I expected...In the past I have used Prime Acrylic and in my opinion the Prime did a much better job....Now Im actually thinking of giving Optimum Poli Seal a try....

I'm a "component" kind of guy and I don't really care for the AIO products for the most part. That said, (flame suit on) PS did a good amount of filling for me. That can put you in a bad situation.

I speak not from what I've read but what I've seen with my own eyes. While it does have some polishing ability it does fill if you stop too soon. Problem is that you can't tell if it's too soon or not without doing a wipe down or finding out the next day. I don't have that issue with dedicated polishes in my arsenal so I'll keep using those polishes.

I think that is the problem I had with XMT360, it disappears into the paint so quicky lm not sure if I should keep on going over the panel or stop since you dont see the product...Makes me worry I am going to do damage

Spoiled, have you tried both the XMT360 and the Poli Seal? If you did which do you prefer and why?

Both products are very similar. Polishing abilities are about the same, maybe a slight edge to XMT 360 but I didn't do an IPA wipedown so I can't tell you for sure if it really did any correcting or just filling? Don't expect it do miracles, afterall it's an AIO. Cleaning ability is also about the same. I can't really comment on the durability part, but most of us who end up using an AIO type product usually top it with a different LSP anyway.

Differences:

XMT 360 smells better, it has a cherry-type smell. XMT 360 dusts a bit more than Poli-Seal, but not as much as Chemical Guy's AIO. The amount of dusting is tolerable. Once I got the hang of Poli-Seal, it really didn't dust at all. But it does leave areas that gum up and are a bit difficult to clean. You have to go over that area again with your PC to get it off. I didn't notice any of that gumming with XMT 360. I think Poli-Seal also has a slight edge when it comes to slickness. Xmt 360 comes in a 12 oz bottle. Poli-Seal comes in 32 oz and a gallon.

The only AIO I have are PoliSeal, Xmt 360, CG AIO, and Klasse AIO. If I had to pick one, my #1 choice would be Poli-Seal, but Xmt 360 comes in close. The dusting from Xmt 360 is what would stop me from picking it over Poliseal. K-AIO is still the best cleaner out of all of them, so I think it's still a worthwhile product to have around. The only reason I would ever use CG AIO again was if I ran out of product.

From my experience with using Poli Seal on a black car... I found that it left some minor hazing when used with a white LC pad. This was on an '06 Avalanche.
