Wrong Backing plate?

Purchased a 2-3/4 Hook and Loop Backing Plate as well as some 4" Spot Buff pads. Did I purchase the wrong plate?

Yeah, that's a bit small for those pads. On this page, Rotary Flexible Backing Plate, lake country rotary backing plates, makita 9227 backing plate, dewalt 849 backing plate, circular backing plate look at part number LC-43-095 3 ¾ inch Rotary Backing Plate that's the one I use for four inch pads on a rotary.

mrmatt- the plate you pictured is for a rotary, not a PC 7424.

While 2.75" plates are handy for use with 3.5" LC PFW pads, they *are* a bit small for 4" pads and can lead to the "cookie-cutter" effect where the plate chews up the pad from the back.

I just got my shipment of the exact same setup last night. Mine has the DA adapter. I used it last night with the white and gray pads. It worked pretty well except it did seem the pad was a little large for the backing plate. A couple of times the pad actually came off when I was using a lot of force on it. Also, I noticed the pad would shift from off-center as the velcro does not seem as strong. Now that I see that that there is a 3.5" backing plate that does not require a DA adapter I may have to get that. I told the vendor I was looking for something I could occasionally use with a drill too so maybe that is why it came that way.

Yeah it was my mistake when ordering. I will have to see if I can exchange it for the correct one on Monday. Don't want my pads getting chewed up :(
