I tried clay for the first time yesterday, unbelievable!!! I always thought my paint was clean, felt smooth "enough". Well I was wrong, the car's paint feels better than new. If anyone out there is contemplating claying their vehicle, I say GO FOR IT!!

Its awesome when you try a product for the first time and get amazing results.

BTW, it wa Meg's clay kit.

Re: Holy Rats Ass Batman!!

same feelings here. at first i wouldn't really feel any contamination, the paint was smooth, it would just grab when id run my fingers across it, but again, no feelings on my fingers of contamination. after a spot claying in that arean the paint felt like butter. everyone should atleast clay their vehicle 1-2 times a year. it makes washing, polishing, waxing, and qding that much easier.

Re: Holy Rats Ass Batman!!

Ditto here.. Claying is one of those things that just make you say "wow". And once you get comfortable doing it - it takes less time to do. Congratulations at a successful-first-time-claying!

Re: Holy Rats Ass Batman!!

i use clay magic to clay my car and the results are stunning. when i run my fingers the feel is much smoother.

Re: Holy Rats Ass Batman!!

Thanks for the congrats! Users of this forum and such all know about clay, but I'd say in general most people don't. Why is that? I mean for something to work so well, you would think it would be more common knowledge or common practice. There are so many waxes and polishes out there, and yes, some are better that others, but no matter what, they all work to some extent. But this clay, one application of it makes SUCH a difference. I have yet to try any product of any kind that has made such a difference. You know what I mean?

I don't know, it just blows my mind and I am so happy I tried it!!!

Re: Holy Rats Ass Batman!!

Unfortunately, claying is a subject only mentioned in forums like this. Many fear the "act" of claying feeling that they will some how ruin their finish. Claying is especially essential on light colored vehicles because the removal of dark microscopic contaminates really brightens the hue.
Claying is soooo essential that many more vehicle owners should try it.

Re: Holy Rats Ass Batman!!

I am amazed everytime i clay, so simple, so effective, just puts a smile on my face.

Re: Holy Rats Ass Batman!!

Isn't it great to try a new product (or process) and actually get the results it promises??

No need to run your fingers over the paint and mutter " ..... well, I guess it's better than it was" as you fling the remaining clay over the fence, it delivers a clean, smooth surface as advertised.

First time I clayed, I got my girl friend to come out to the garage so she could feel how smooth the deck lid was (I was removing tree sap) & she gave me that look that said "When's the last time YOU were drug tested?"

Yes, this is one of life's and car detailings pleasures. I 've done my wifes car which is one of the worlds most best kept cars never been clay'd before, and the baby just glow'd, after it was AIO, WG Paint Sealer, and Pinnacle Signature. I have done it on my daughters car while shampooing, and results were just as great.

I would add that once your over the fear of claying, do it during the wash proess and save time and lub cost. The process I use is initial rinse, wash, rince, wash leave soap on, clay, wash and rinse. Doing one section at a time starting from the top down.

Lastly, I've used Wolfgang Clay and Clay Magic with equal success and results. The good news is when you do the math on the purchase price, well do the math you'll see what I mean.

Btw, my car is swirl city, a result of too agressive clay barring by a couple of friends. The color is deep pearl green.
That was from a different thread, but it kind of points out why many people have reservations about claying.

Just a guess, but the moderators probably didn't see where the original thread title added anything to the thread or the discussion.:dunno

It's one of those things where I really don't give a rat's xxx, but I didn't see where it was too appropriate on a site with female members.:)

1. Children, as well as women, read the site.
2. Robin never cussed to Batman.
3. There are more "educated" words/ways to express your emotions.

Is that necessary? "Educated". To all the women and children...and some men, my deepest appoligies, Jared is right, I do have a lack of education. I was just happy about finding and trying a new product, that saying is just a fun little saying, didn't mean to cause any harm.

:bye

Nethervue:You may have a lack of education, but you aren't dumb.:)
It takes a pretty intelligent person to accept being wrong and apologize for it.
As far as I'm concerned, the whole thing is history and I'm ready for your next post.

Sorry for the offense. I thought it might be took in jest, seeing as how I threw in the Robin joke and put it in quotation marks. Guess I should have used [sarcasm] the sarcasm [/sarcasm] tag. My apologies.

When I first got my new car last week, I had not thought of claying but now that I read more here, I am quickly becoming convinced of giving it a try.
