Would OCW be good to use over Opti-Seal

Hi,

I've just compounded/polished/poliseal/optisealed my fathers c6 corvette. Over the last week or so I've put 3 coats of Opti-seal. It looks really really good, but I've got some optimum spray/quick wax that I havnt tried yet.

Is the protection of OS better than OCW ? Is the look of OCW better than OS?

Its going to be summer, and I would like the car to be as protected as possible for the coming months.

What do you all think?

OS is much better protection then OCW and it lasts longer. However OCW is a great topper/booster so YES go ahead and use it every other wash, it takes 5 minutes and adds to the look.

It wont negatively affect the protection of the OS?

As long as the OS has cured then no. Some people apply OS then OCW and topped with OS again.

I am using pretty much the same combo on my car currently 3 Coats of OS and I plan to apply some Fuzion over it soon. I use OCW and AW over cars sealed with OS with no negative results.

I did however have problem once with Ultima PGP. I applied it first let it cure for 5 hours then topped with FK1000p. A week later the car looked like it had no protection at all. Reapplied FK1000p and no problems since.

I detailed an Accent used Opti Seal, 30 minutes later OCW. Is it ideal no, did it work yes. I would have liked to wait 12 hours to top OS with OCW but couldnt. The car now has 400 more highway miles and has been about 10 days and no washes just a lot of rain we got here last week and it still looks awesome, the owner pointed out how great it looks even after the rain.

very nice, yeah I read that thread. Thanks for the incite. Its had more than 48 hours to cure since the last coat so I will probably drop a nice coat of OCW on it tomorrow then while its still nice and clean.

Danny, after 48hrs it`ll be better to Qd the car preferably with OID then OCW.

OID to remove any accumulated dust etc and give a really fantastic slickness but its not very long lasting so use OCW for added durability and protection.

its okay to use OCW right after OID ?

OID wouldnt strip away any of the OS protection, would it?

Very smart Danny :xyxthumbs

OID, OCW and OS can be used in this order but I vary it depending on the condition of the lsp.

So I am happy to report that you guys seem to be right. this evening I whiped the car down fully with OID, it was not really dirty at all, just a bit of dust here an there. The car only left the garage for a few minutes since I detailed it up fully.

So then I put down the OCW as suggested, sprayed a bit on a folded up MF and sprayed on panels and buffed around and then whiped a little bit with the dry side of the MF as needed.

I noticed after the OCW the MF slid around very much easier than it did prior, with just coats of OOS or the recent OID. So that is really good, hopefully the bugs and dirt have a hard time sticking when the car makes it out to the roadcourse next week.

Anyways thanks for the tips, I'll take some fresh pictures if the sun comes out tomorrow.

:)

OOS topped with OCW is a very good combo and I use it quite frequently. I'll let the OS cure for about 20 minutes, then do a quick buff/wipedown with some OID lightly sprayed on a MF towel, then go back and use OCW. Here's a tutorial I wrote on OS use for what it's worth: Opti-Seal usage

This is after polishing (106FF and 85RD), then 2 coats of OS, and then a coat of OCW.

That is inspiring. Thanks so much for posting that and the link to your helpful step by step. I plan to try OOS+ for my fall detail after polishing with one of the Optimum polishes (polish, finish or poli-seal depending on what the paint needs.)

I hope mine looks even half that good.
