well i did another detail yesterday and guess what. it was the worst day of my life. it was a big 96 diesal ford in realy good shape . and everything that could go wrong did. but i got it detailed very well. well when i dropped it off at the guys house which he lives down a dirt road. they complain about it being dirty and other small things. some people cant be pleased for nothing.. this is the first and only customer i have or will ever have a complaint. everyone i do is always extremely pleased with my results.

We all have good and bad days. Do not let these people get you down. IMHO, some people have nothing better to do than complain and make other peoples lives miserable.

A suggestion to the dirty truck from the dirt road I would have done:
1. Had the client drop the truck off or
2. Had a bottle of QD or S&W with a few MF's to wipe the truck down before presenting to the client.

What small items were wrong with the truck?

Eric

unfortunately " the customer is always 'right' even when they're WRONG!" i grew up on gravel and they'res No possible way you can avoid dust. except when they lay down calcium chloride which just rusts everyone's car out. eds that's an excellent idea to bring a S&W when you have to deliver somewhere like that, and specifically state to customer point it out " since you live on a dusty road i will take a few extra minutes out of MY time with special detail spray to be able to present you sparkly truck. " even then people like that will probly complain. Dont take it personally, and be grateful they're not your relatives.

Aint that the truth!!!!

Don't let one complaint get you down. You know the kind of job you did on the truck.

smal thigs he thought were wrong with the truck were stuff that was in it such as imbedded scratch way below the clearcoat and he complained about the truck bed not being waxed and other things which he didnt request and pay for the truck bed to be waxed

Bigsteve2200,

Create a detailed "checklist" of items that you will be doing on a given detail, ask the customer to be specific as to what they expect, or tell them what you do/don't do, and what you will charging for their "expectations", and give them a copy of the checklist! If you get a chance, review the vehicle with the customer "before" you start the detail, and point out the scratches/dents and other imperfections that you detail won't be removing.

Yes............... some people think detailing is also "scratch/dent" removal. These are the kind of customers you don't want................... let them find out the hard way.

Did you explain to him that your not a miracle worker and that you can't go beneath the clearcoat? Or that he is complaining about something that wasn't included. If this is the first time, I'm gonna have to say let him go find another detailer. Shoot thats dang good that its the first complaint!

What was wrong on your part? That you performed services as instructed to the best of your ability? Etc. You shouldn't be at fault IMHO

I had a lady say to me one time she wanted her car to look brand new!!!!! First of all theres no way you can make something look brand new you can make it look better than before . Thats my opion!
