Worn out MF ?

I have had a MT [yes the real thing] for about a year. I've been using one in the bathroom to clean mirrors, sink, etc. When I opened my Neatitems towel, I noticed how it clings to my detailers rough hands. When I compared to my old MT,The MT has lost this grabby feel. Does this impare performance? Use it for wheels?

As long as it does it's job (absorbs water and doesn't streak) and is in good visible condition, then it is still good. If you've been washing it regularly then it will last a long time. If you think about the applications of the towel, at what point is grabbiness a criteria for any of your applications. (I would QD with the softer of the two when given a choice) Lastly, and although a CD has a completely different suface, if you take an MT on day one, did a CD test and then tried again a year later with the same towel and CD (long time test) then it would prove if using the towel changed its properties (can't dispute with a CD test with the same towel over time)

If the towel has lost some of its plushness, which it may very well have after a year, then it could very well affect the quality of its work.

The 'grabbiness' of a micro fiber towel is actually caused by the shape of the fiber. Instead of being a round fiber, the micro fibers are split into triangular shaped fibers that have 3 'sharp' edges that scoop up dust and grime. It's these edges that catch your rough skin. The finer the mf, the more it catches. Over time you wear away some of the material aa well a compact it with use, but it is still going to have the same shape to the fibers. Did your MT ever have that 'grabby' feeling?

How do you wash your mf towels? I like to wash them with liquid detergent and run through the rinse cycle twice. Then I put them in the dryer at medium heat. They seem to really fluff up versus hand washing and air drying. Be careful not to wash or dry them with any other types of towels (they pick up lint like crazy) and never use bleach or softener.

How do you like the neatitems.com towels? I've been a fan of their's for quite a while now. Never had a lint problem with them like some of the other towels seem to be having.

Thanks guys. I always clean my MF towels exactly as Prinz suggests. Don- the plushness has not diminished, but it does not seem to clean glass as well as when new. I like the Neatitems towels, for the money. I am on the waiting list to get some from Yosteve. Are his closer to MT, Neat, or the Viper?
