Woolite and Leather

Does the Woolite / water solution work good on light cream leather? Mine is *very* lightly soiled and just mostly where I have sat over the winter. Hard to clean/treat up here when its less than 30 F most the time. How do you apply it?? brush.. soak it?

This is the interior

Worked well on my beige leather. Mine was very dirty (I am waiting for the weather to improve so that I can use the Leatherique). I ended up using a brush but you may not need to be so aggressive

It worked great for me on a 2000-ish RX 300 with a tan/beige interior. I had to use a soft brush on some areas, but a terrycloth towel took care of most of the cleaning without a problem. The lady that owns it is the only person that uses the vehicle, rarely does she have a passenger, and the driver's seat came out looking just like the almost virgin passenger seat. IMO, the woolite solution will be just fine for your car. It'll even get some pretty tough stains out of carpet.

I've tired in on my amythest grey BMW interior & on the leather furniture in my home with good effect, I have it premade in a spray bottle & give the area a light spritz, allow to sit for 5-10 sec & clear with a cotton terry towel

~One mans opinion / observation~

I think I remember a Scottwax post, he said a label on a Cadillac leather seat said, “Clean surfaces with a water/Woolite solution.

~Hope this helps~

Jesstzn,

Have you ever cleaned your leather with old fashion Saddle Soap? You just may be amazed at how well that works. Saddle Soap also helps to restore natural oils back into the leather during the cleaning process.

Just a thought...

I used saddle soap years ago to clean white leather jacket sleeves etc but I haven't seen it on any shelves inthe last while. But it did work great. I wonder if the Tack shop here has it I will have to Ph. Glad you reminded me.

I think I read somewhere (autopia detailing guide or CMA) that saddle soap was not that great a thing to use on leather. My understanding is that it is too harsh for fine leather. I think it is better to go with something gentle like the woolite water solution.

Real quick question. what is the solution, 6:1? like 6 oz water to 1 oz woolite?

Yes. You can also use it on vinyl, fabric and carpeting. It is a great all around 'safe for all surfaces' cleaner.

I have similar concerns about this as Nikon, since saddles and seat leather do seem to have totally different finishes to them and last I had read also it was a "bad idea".

Also, is this real actual saddle soap, as the proper definition of this stuff is, or is it one of the newer generation "saddle soaps" (glycerine based liquids usually) that have more in common with some of the neutral automotive leather cleaners you see being sold? I've seen both types of product (it's amazing what you can find out there for saddles) and I'm just wondering. Or, what product are you currently using for this?

Actually right now I am using the VW leather cleaner I conned them out of when I bought the car. Its so so .. You would be suprised what you can get for free when you have the pen in your hand and your hedging on a $45,000 car. 4DSC .. you anywhere near Surrey/Delta?
