Wool + PC???

Just curious if anybody uses wool with the PC? In my researching for a proper rotary setup, I noticed the following in the description of the Purple Foamed Wool Pad

These pads are recommended for dual action and circular (rotary) buffers

Kind of curious as to how that would work on a PC. I might pick one up (ahead of the rotary setup) and see how it works w/ the PC....would like to know if anyone's tried it yet though.

Edit: I wonder what M105 + Purple Foamed wool on the PC would do.....marr the crap out of the finish or give good cut and finish down nice?>.....hmm....something to think about.

I wanted to clean up a badly oxidized rooftop airconditioner at work, so I bought a cheap wool pad (from AG, I think) and used it on the PC with some Collinite Sapphire and it worked fine. IIRC, I mostly didn't want to tear up a foam pad on the rusty spots and screw heads.

ive tried it....didnt work so well....much cleaner results with an orange pad and stronger polish/compound

Same here, though there are different/better wool pads on the market these days compared to what I was using- namely stuff like those foamed-wool pads.

Still...my vote is to use 4" cutting pads for serious PC work. They can be *too* aggressive, so IMO that's aggressive enough for a machine that's not really well-suited to serious correction anyhow. And at least they'll do the work without any really serious pad-induced marring.

Also, I'd be a little careful about taking a vendor's word for how well something like that will work ;)

Tried it and it left a bunch of hairs on the finish. My pads are worn down and ill probably get the orange ones next.

Cool.....it was just a thought since I'll be getting purple wool in the future anyway. I'll just stick with the orange pads for now. Oh, and that's the truth about trusting the vendor's word/claims. Sparked an interested thought though.
