DK, I am not sure, but I believe I see a speck of dust in that forward cup holder underneath that little lip. Using the front of the car as North, it would be about the NW portion.

Let's see in a word: excellent!

I broke out the Z today, man o man! Busting at the seams to put some thoughts down!!!!!:bounce

Hey DK how do u like the leatherette sport seats? Do they feel like vinyl or are they fairly leather like? Is leather worth the 1500.

The reason why I didn't get leather in the BMW was because of its poor quality in the 3 series. Granted not everyone takes care of their leather seats, the demos and slightly used 3-series that I test drove had leather that looked terrible. It does not wear well at all. Maybe someone that has it can tell you more about it.

The ette, looks and feels like leather....everyone is fooled. It is not as soft but it will look the same for years and years. Black is the best color to get with the ETTE. Tan is ok, but borderline, "cheap" looking in my opinion.

I would save the 1500 and go for heated seats, xeon lights, and clears.....instead!

Hey DK looks great really like that turtle wax tire gel, need to get some of that stuff. I have this gut feeling i might be switching to Zaino soon and like I said nice pics.:bow

DK, what options do you have besides sport package?

Was it hard to install clears? Do you have the taillights done?

I start to really like that color and the leatherette fooled me:up

well DK, you got me jealous. Im checkin out a 3 series (2002) this weekend. Jet black with sport package, moonroof, and xenons. I can't afford all the other options (leather, power seats, etc.) oh well...

edit: I just found out it doesnt come with the armrest  . Driving stick without the armrest in boston traffic will kill me. I hate looking for new cars, so many choices, so many prices !!!:scared

Al, after looking at various bimmer pictures, especially DK's, new car list shrinks to just one:<strong class='bbc'>BMW[/b]
If I could only afford M3...:bow

Thanks!

To answer your questions.....

I have sport package, premium package, CD, and Harmon Kardon stereo upgrade as options.......

Clears were a must and are very easy to install. Took me 10 minutes to do the front and side markers! I have the rears and will be installing them soon......just have not had the time.

I also have titanium headlight trim like the 330i's have, but am debating whether or not i like black or or not........

As for steel grey....it takes a bit of work to get it to shine, but once finished it looks AWESOME!

DK, I was looking at Lexus IS300 and really liked it, it's in the same $$$ ballpark as 325i and my Lexus dealer is more willing to negotiate than BMW guys.

Is 325i powerful enough? Maybe I should look into used ones, I've seen very nice E46 328Ci.

Any info on your BMW experience would be appreciated.

Oh...and post more pics after you are done with the rears.

325i beat IS30 in

0-60

1/4 mile

0-100

and.....

0-120

Test drive both. I mistake the IS300 for a toyota or honda sometimes with those big clear rearlights....too racer boy for me.....but I am sure it is a nice car. 328i has a bit more torque than the 325i but they are neck and neck. It's not my old Z-28 but it is smooth and pulls and pulls till redline. And it walks my old Z-28 around corners like a dog......awesome handling with the sport package and 50/50 distrubution.......

Hey DK, is the harmon kardon worth the 675. I've heard that BMW stereos just plain old suck, or have they changed?

I have the 3 series (w/ premium package, HK premium sound, & auto transmission) as well and just thought I'd toss in a few of my thoughts:

DK, as for the leather seats, like you said I don't think there is much difference in the way it looks and feels from the leatherettes. I have leather in my 10 month-old 330I and so far it's held up well. But that isn't much of a test. We'll just have to see how it is after 5, 10 or more years. I definitely plan to do my part in maintaining them however.

Sport package is good, but I only have the Premium package. Wife didn't want the SP, because she really isn't into performance. It was hard to feel a difference in the ride from just a short test drive, but the thigh-supports were excellent and the steering wheel looked nice.

As for the harmon kardon sound upgrade, GET IT! 10 speakers plus 2 sub-woofers make for an incredible sound system. Granted, it's not on the same level as the Mark Levinson found in the high-end Lexus cars, but from what I've heard, the premium sound is definitely noticeable in the 3 and 5 series bimmers and not quite as noticeable on the X and 7 series.

Alboston, the premium package is cheaper on the 330 than it is on the 325, so getting the premium package on either car actually lowers the price disparity between them. How about dropping the SP and getting the 330I with the PP?

F1, I used to own the IS300, but in all honesty, I wasn't very happy with it. I guess it all comes down to what you're looking for. It's a tad bit more sport oriented than the 325I (despite its lower perf. numbers) and the 325I is more of an even blend between luxury and sport. And it also doesn't have the solid european feel which I like so much.

As for power between the 325I and 330I, I had trouble feeling a difference. I hear that the only time you will feel a slight difference is in the torque at speeds over 40 mph.

Gee, I'm starting to wonder why I even got the 330I over the 325 in the first place!

DK, the 325I's have a different colored headlight trim? I never noticed that.

.....The 2001 330i had titanium headlight trim, the 325i has black.

.....the HK is definately worth the money as Intermezzo said. It is not a "kick'n" system, but the stock system is really poor, and it is a worth while upgrade.

.....My 325i 5 speed feels about as fast as my friends 330i auto. the 330i 5 speed has a lot lower end torque. The power comes on faster and and you can feel it. I couldn't justify the money difference when I bought my 325i, but the more I think about it and drive in 330i's with a 5 speed, the more I regret not splurging for it. If you are going for bang for the buck, go with the 325i if you are considering a 5 speed, and the 330i if you want an auto. I found the 325i auto to feel a bit underpowered.
