Wizard

I spoke with a paint repair and detailing professional yesterday. He mentioned Wizard brand polishes. I got to check it out a bit. It was a little watery. He said he moved away from Megs and such because of the dusting. Said that the Wizard had almost no dusting at all. Even showed me a some heavy work he had just done. I have to admit, it was essentially dust free. Reminded me of using 3M Ultrafina SE.

Anyone heard of this product line?

Anyone use it?

I don't think I have ever heard of it in this forum and that seems kind of odd considering how well it seemed to work for this fellow and his business.

It is real popular around here, as I work about 10 miles from the company. I have used a few products but they are just so similar to many other products that nothing really stands out.

Supposedly, it is a spinoff from Race Glaze and much of the line resembles the 'relabel' type stuff.

I was turned off when the prices went up, but it was so convenient because every auto parts store and motorcycle/sled dealer carried the stuff. There is often 2-3 vendors selling the products at the larger, local shows, too.

Wizard is honestly right up there with crap like Turtle wax in the green can. There's nothing on the wizard line worth paying any kind of money for. THey have fillers up the wazzoo. They don't last and most importantly they really don't correct properly. (because of all the fillers they tend to use) I'd strongly suggest staying as far away from Wizard products as possible.

I can attest to the filler level. A friend of mine works in a Bodyshop and they were using it. He knows I detail so called my in saying look at the correction level. Went to my car and got some IPA and the truth was then revealed, he was crushed. This was a while ago, so the mixture might have changed, however megs and Menz work so well that I dont mind cleaning up dust because the surface is :bounce

One of my customers had some Wizard's products in his race car shop that his mechanic brought down with him from Minnesota. The wax seemed like the typical cleaner wax you can get anywhere, nothing special. The other product was some sort of glaze that did add noticeable wetness. This was 9-10 years ago so I have no idea if either product still exists in that form.
