Wizard Products questions

Hey everyone, I was talking to the owner of my body shop yesterday, and he recomended using Wizard Turbo cut and Final Cut buffing compound applied with my craftsman orbital buffer for removing scratches. He also said 3M has very good compounds, but they aren't as user friendly. He also said that Wizard has a very good clay and quick detailer, and Wizard's Shinemaster Polish and Sealant is one of the best polishes out there. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with these products, and if they are really as good as he says they are. Also, wizard says its Shinemaster polish replaces wax, but it only lasts 3 months, could I apply a better wax over top of the layer of the shinemaster to add durability? Also, is shinemaster abrasive, because my paint is in good enough shape that I don't think I need an abrasive polish. But, please give me your opinions! Thanks.

The owner, from reading your post seems biased more towards Wizard's products, but what do i know?Ive only used their clay bar and that didnt even work out for me so i returned it.So far only paint surface prep products I have ever used is Meguiar's and its kept me happy:up

I have used their shinemaster and dressing, now it sits in a bin under the rest of my stuff. Shinemaster - really nice gloss and depth but lasts maybe 3 weeks - I used it on 2 customers vehicles and about 3 weeks later there seemed like nothing was left. Dressing is about the same - nice look but doesn't last. If you would like, you can pm with an address and I will send whats left

IMO meg's, klasse, upp, PB, will give you a much better results and durability

Hi!

Yup, I knew you were in MN...Wizards is pretty big here...made in Hanover, MN.

I have TONS of experience with Wizards products...Shinemaster, IMO, REGARDLESS of what it says is more like AIO than anything..I don't think it can be layered at all, and if you get three weeks out of it, you're lucky. however, if you top it with a tru blu wax, that might be a good combo.

Turbo and Finish Cut, love them both, in fact I just detailed two cars the other day that both required Turbo Cut (Turbo is pretty heavy duty and finish is more for swirlmarks).

Vinyl Shine I like a lot too, mostly because it smells sooooo good. Same with Mist N Shine-probably my favorite instant detailer.

I also like the WizardsWash a lot too..very slick and doesn't streak.

A few years ago the Wizards Water Bandit was all the rage on this forum, but they haven't made much noise on here as of late.

Also, get a Porter Cable, not a Craftsman! ;)

Hope this helps a little!

I think I am gonna try the wizards compound, and go with poorboys polish and wax, because i guess mastershine won't give me the durability i want. Do you guys think I could use my craftsman orbital to apply the compound until i get enough money for the PC? Also, should i use the terry cloth bonnet to apply or the wool bonnet? Should I use turbo cut of Finish cut to take care of 3000 grit scratches? How about after sanding down touch up blobs? Thanks for you help!

Have any pics of the scratches? Its easier to go up aggressiveness in products without doing damage. Start with Finish Cut and if that doesn't do it, move up to Turbo Cut. Afterwards, go backover it with Shinemaster to enhance the shine (if you have Shinemaster already), otherwise get some Poorboys.

Bonnet and sanding....I can't help you with either of those.

Where in MN do you live, anyway? I live in Otsego and work in Golden Valley.

Dale, I am not suprised Wizards is popular in Minnesota...the guy I got some of their stuff from was up there. One of my customers had his race car (NHRA Comp Eliminator class C/A record holder for almost two years with a 7.54 @ 175.84!) painted at a shop in Minnesota and his crew chief was from that neck of the woods.

Not a great pic, but my scanner is teh suck. :(

Maybe it's my monitor's dark gamma, but I can't even see that. I brightened it a bit. Hope you don't mind me touching your stuff, Scott. :D

I live in Echo,MN and go to school in Granite Falls. I'm in the southwestern part of the state. Anyway, anyone else have any ideas of my sanding/buffing questions?

I used to use Wizards but I found their customer service sucks and they are sort of rude.

And on top of being rude and having bad customer service, they stole virtually EVERYTHING from Race Glaze. The owner of Wizards worked for Race Glaze at one point, and basically took their marketing plan and formulas and the rest is history.
