With gas prices on the rise, I have considered a smaller water tank

Currently I have a 275 gallon water tank in my GMC Savana. Recently I have been really picking things apart to assist with saving gas money, and one thing was water. I am wondering what size tanks people are using, and also does anyone have a tank that they are using a garden hose off of? I use a pressure washer, but I saw a guy using a 100 gallon tank that had an electrical pump which feed to a garden house. With my steamer, areas that would typically require a pressure washer will not be a must have. I figured I would ask around. Less water and not needing to always use the pressure washer will mean less gas used and less wear on my pressure washers. :getdown

I have a 125 gal. tank in one trailer and a 90 gal. in another. I use the 90 gal. trailer for the medium to smaller jobs, and the 125 gal. trailer for the larger jobs. Both trailers have a water pump in them so I can wash straight from a hose or connect a pressure washer to it. Both also have a generator and all the other things needed to do the job.

35 Gallon here, enough to do 3 vehicles and my washer uses 1.5GPM.

Have had one instance where I had to refill mid job, that was a 40FT RV.

I would say if you're finding that you're always hauling a lot of extra weight around then downsize from the 275gal and keep track of how much water you use per week / month or day or however your water consumption goes. What I hear from your post is that you need / want to free up some space on the vehicle and reduce gas costs which you could definitely do by keeping the 275gal around but downsizing the onboard tank to 100. I think water weighs 8lbs per gallon? So you're going from 2200lbs full or 1100lbs half way --> 800lbs w/ a 100gal tank. That's just a quick solution of mine.

Another might be to figure out what you need for each job that you'll have that week etc and meter out how much water you put in the tank so that you're not carrying around excess weight. Mind you that it might be a good idea to keep a few extra gallons in there just in case you come upon another job.
