Winter hobbies?

Here in KC, the detailing business starts going downhill fast when November gets here, then picks up again in late March.

For those who live in climates where the snow flies, what will your hobbies be this winter, when there's not much to detail?

For me, I'll do some art work, probably painting. I do have this passion for muscle cars and I'd like to do some paintings similar to the work of Dana Forrester.:drool5:

Here's one of my fav's by Dana!

most of my hobbies are outdoor hobbies... but i try to find a few projects i meant to do when i was too busy outdoors last spring and summer. i like woodworking and making picture frames since i'm also an amateur photographer..

Since the weather conditions won't allow for driving anything fun, and detailing is out of the question, I catch-up on some of the newer music I've missed during the warmer months, and add to my diecast collection - mostly 1:24 and 1:18 scale sports/racing cars.

you should take all fall and winter and alphabetize your collection... looks like it'll take at least that...

Fishing, hehe gotta love living in Florida. Kingfish are just starting to come down this way and I should be out in the next couple weeks :hurray:

I still have a decent amount of work in the winter, my more higher end clients just have me do work in their heated garages or shops.

<grin> The LPs are arranged by genre and then alphabetized relative to the section. The couple of thousand CDs, OTOH, are all over the place - at least 300 in the garage alone. I typically keep ~50 in each car, too. I've been delaying putting them away, but it needs to be done.

Every weekend Im off riding!! Fall and spring kinda stink, no snowmobiling and no boating. Thats when I get my detailing time in!

115mph of fun!! 0-60 in about 2.5 seconds.

With only three weeks off between semesters I will FINALLY have a chance to detail the fleet starting with the wife's Windstar, then hit my sedan and then the roadster. Daughter's car is in Boston with her so she is on her own this year. :D

Luster, if you want to defrost in California let me know it would be great to learn from a master. ;)

I test products that I have read about during the detailing season.

I charge by the hour and therefore, I don't really have the chance to try out most of the new stuff that people rave about during the regular season.

During the off months when the snow is flying I get to try out all the stuff that peaked my interest.

Also do durability testing on scrap panels exposed to the elements.

Usually do some work on my website.

Do my books for the season.

Prepare my canned emails that I send out during the year to my customers.. Stuff like that

I love to snowmobile in the winter and now that my son is four, I love to watch him enjoy the sport.

Well the "winter" in texas is just windy days that are cold, no snow down here :(

However, what im addicted to and try so hard to go when possible is take some ski trips and go snowboarding. But its pretty hard being in texas so ive been a few times but love it! I snowboard everyday there all day until we leave :)

Watching the J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets, and trying to stay warm. I hate the winter. I hope that one day I will eventually move to the Sunshine State.
