Winners at Pebble Beach

First off, welcome to the Forum!
Now here's what I think about Concours winners and show cars:
1. They're not gonna give away their secrets or they wouldn't win, now would they?
2. Those cars are likely trailer queens. So, the products they use are for VERY short-term shine purposes, not durability. Even if I knew exactly what they use, I probably wouldn't want to use it, because it's just not practical for daily drivers. If you've got a garage queen or show car, then there are VERY short lived products out there that will boost your shine for events and such.
3. Those cars likely have custom paint jobs that cost thousands of $$ and thousands of man hours to prep. Again, not practical for daily drivers or even most show cars.
So, it's just my opinion that what they use on their Concours cars really doesn't matter much to us daily driver types... they're in a whole 'nother world of paint care and the methods to achieve that at the Concours level.

Pebble Beach vehicles are not REAL world!
Just like the golf course (lost 13 balls in 18 holes and I don't play that bad!), it is a world that most of us will never enter.
We have a Trusted Professional Detailer, Bob Geco, who has dones some vehicles for the show and he can tell you, it ain't real, Sparky!

I wish I found this forum a garage full of products ago. I realize that the paint-job on those cars most more then the average house. But I was wondering if those are the people that use the $1100 tubs of zymol or specially formulated versions of their own. I personally use P21 and 3M SMR, not great for longevity but gives a nice gloss (this with a porter cable, griots red pads and MF cloth on the polisher. I was a Zaino user for a couple of years but really did'nt achieve what I wanted. The car isn't a daily driver, but whant it to look its best

Nice ride you got there. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would dig on seeing some pics.... hint, hint. 
It sounds like we have similar goals for our black cars. So far the best wax that I have found is Pinnacle Souveran and I apply it after using 3M's SMR with a PC. It looks awesome on black. Luckily I was able to purchase the Souveran on sale for $39.95.
It's cool to have another black Porsche owner on the board. Carguy, Spree17 and myself also drive black P-cars. Look forward to your future participation.

21 out of the 26 winners, including best in show, at the latest Pebble Beach Concours use Meguiar's products. I would think that the majority of them do not use polymers.
It's all about technique.
However, I do hear of many Zaino'd and Klasse'd cars that win local events.

It has been said before but is worth repeating, 20% is the product, 80% is the technique. My guess is that the Pebble Beach cars have paint jobs costing $10,000 upwards. You cannot really compare these cars to normal driven cars. It is a bit like comparing a normal Honda engine to a Formal One Honda engine. They may look similar but that’s about it.
I remember a quote for a Formal One driver, who was asked what the similarities a F1 car had to a normal street car, he said you sit on a seat behind a steering wheel, four wheels on each corner and that is all.

All true. Black cars make me neurotic, but they sure do look good when done right. Thanks for all the replies. I just won a jar of Zymol Carbon, never tried it but searched the archive for it with average reviews. Would like to give the Souveran a try, even though $65.00 seems steep.
