Windshield protection

Okay so I heard about this on another forum and have been doing some research about this stuff. Its a clear protection film that you put on top of your windshield to protect from rock chips and uv rays and such. Looks pretty bad a$$ but don't know if anyone has experience with it. My only concern is the longevity of the film. I wonder how long it will last before it discolors or blurs...if it does it at all. There was another company a while back selling these but they stopped because of discoloring.

Oh the company is prolinestyling.com. I am wanting to put it as an add on service but don't want to piss off clients for dropping that kind of money on something thats going to wear later on. What do you all think? Hopefully someone has experience or knows someone so I could get some insight. Thanks

Windshield come like that from the factory. They already have a UV coating on them by law and a shatter resistent coating (That's why glass don't shatter all over the place if broken like the side windows) It might help with the pitting from the sandblasting they take from driving down the highway but outside of that I really don't see the added benifit in doing it. I'd call proline up and see what kind of garuntees they have with the product. Make sure that if customers come back due to discoloration or flaking off or whatever that proline is going to stand behind thier product 100%.

Actually, windshields dont shatter because they are laminated glass. The doors, qtrs/ backglasses are all tempered glass and made to shatter into small pieces.

well when I saw the video on their site you can see the difference between a rock on a regular windshield and then a rock and a "protected" windshield and there is quite a difference.

Again I think your best bet would be to call the company directly and see just how far they are willing to stand behind their product. If they will put everything in writing it just might be worth the investment. But be leary. Alot of these "franchises" are nothing more than scams. They take your investment give you some product and that's about the last time you actually here from them. Until royalites are due. But support wise you have to have it writing that they'll be there for you from start to finish and not just through intial start up and training.

Yes, your best bet would be to contact the company directly, and to correct another poster, your Windshield does not come with a prective coat on it!

Another poster clarified this.

A windshield consists 1 part laminate (strong plastic type material) and 2 parts glass.

All others windows are tempered, unless you drive a vehicle with bullet proof glass, this laminated glass as well.

If you find anything out about this protective sheet or whatever it is, please let others know!

It might be a good investment for some to offer thier customers!

My company does windshield repairs along with detailing, and other things as well. This is how I know a little about windshields.
