Will RMG Remove Old Wax?

My car currently has a couple of coats of #16 on it but Santa is bringing some RMG & CMW. The paint is 98% swirl free, just a few very fine ones only visible under a halogen.

If I apply the RMG with the PC will it remove the old wax or will I need to go over the car with a paint work cleaner or 106ff first?

thanks

Mick

Not sure, but I think RMG has no cleaning abilities, as VMW does.

If your paint has swirls I would 106ff, then RMG then CMW.

If your paint is not that bad I would use a paint cleaner, then RMG, then CMW.

RMG does contain light cleaning abilities. If it were me I would use the 106ff first then come back with the RMG. Since my paint has no swirls or oxidation I use Men PO85RD with a finishing pad. This safely removes all old wax, sprays, etc and makes the finish squekly clean. Follow with Rmg. Then your LSP. You'll have the ultimate finish !!

Thanks for the comments DieselMDX. I just got finished giving my RX8 a Extreme Makeover (AUTO EDITION)(HERE THAT ABC, READY TO HAVE MY OWN SHOW).....

Used Men. SIP, Po85RD, Men Finishing Glaze (first time using it), then 1 coat of Zymol Vintage.

PO85RD with a finishing pad is a excellant way to remove all the "stuff" you have applied since your last makeover.

More coats of Vintage to come.

IME, RMG will clean off old wax just fine. If in doubt, use a paint cleaner first.

If your paint is really that close to perfect, wait as long as you can before you use abrasives again. Also, although not good to do all the time, RMG will fill minor imperfections so your tiny swirls only visible under a halogen (assuming you have autopian quality paint) will not be visible anymore.

I'm pretty sure RMG will remove your existing LSP. The label on the bottle says it will remover minor imperfections so I bet it will cut through whatever wax/sealant you have on your paint just fine.

Agree but if already have Men 106 use it first. Then follow with RMG and the shine will be awesome!

MDRX8, I'm old to detailing but new to Menzerna, I just tried IP and really like it. Tell me, what pad and machine do you use with PO85RD? I'm looking for a very light polish / paint cleaner to get paint ready for a new LSP.

Thanks

I love to use PO85RD with a Finishing pad to remove everything and it adds a unbelievable shine!!! You will not want to aplly a LSP it will look so good.

A blue CCS pad CCS 6.5 inch foam pads, Lake country ccs foam pads, porter cable pads, ccs polishing pads, ccs pads does great with a PC or Ultimate Detailing Machine UDM. Or the porter cable. You don't have to work it so much since you are not correcting swirl marks, just cleaning the surface. Good luck PM me if needed!
