Will polishing with PC widen paint chips?

I got a 03 Accord in nighthawk black (black with blue specks) I just bought it a couple weeks ago got a good deal the only thing is it has a ton of chips on the front, some are even chipped down pass the primer to the metal. It kills me because all the little chips show up white and are very noticable. Within an area of about 1ft square I can count about 20 chips. Ive got pics but i cant get them off my camera right now. What are my options with the front end paint being messed up? Am i better off repainting or can the PC work a little magic on it?

The PC will help, but by no means will it cover up or hide any of the chips that are down to the metal. Those will most likely need to be touched up or have the hood repainted all together.

I don't recall where, but if you search, there is a good thread or two about touching up such chips and the process to do so.

First I think you need to investigate if you actually have chips down to the primer. Typically primer is gray. So if you are seeing white chips, that probably just means the clear coat is chipped. I have the same thing on my car in front of the rear wheels. The body flares out, so it's catching all kinds of stones, and the chipping looks like white flecks in the paint. With some polishing you should be able to make them look better. Then you can decide if you want to fill them in with touch up paint.

You may be right on that I have to check it out a little more, but i do know that there are a couple of bigger ( 1/4") chips that are down to the metal. Ive seen a writeup on touchup painting that one guy did on a black G35, my question is how hard is it to don on a metallic paint? Do the flakes sink to the bottom of a drop or go to the outter rim of a drop of paint??
