Will A Glaze Mute My Metallic Flake?

Noting that I haven't used either of those products, there's a school of thought that says that the more stuff between the paint and your eyes, the more muted it'll look.

As Zaino says, "Optically Clear." I suppose that makes sense, and many do love the sealant route vs the wax/glazes that somewhat mute the clarity of the paint. I hear products like DG 105 are a good in between.

My take on glazes though (to finally answer your question haha) is that they are more for depth/filling than anything else. If you can get your paint 90% or better with something like OC/OP, then why waste the money on a glaze? Just go straight to your LSP and be ready for a nice shine!

I wonder how my "polishes that leave something behind" fit into this...they're kinda glaze-like :nixweiss

The best metallic pop I've ever achieved was on the S8 the last time I gave it a full polishing. The last thing I used before the UPP was 1z Pro MP, a fine polish that leaves stuff (presumably "synthetic wax", as the 1z guys described it) behind. It sure didn't mute the metallic, it was literally blinding in bright sunlight.

Nimble- I just responded to your Q about my M3 sedan on another thread (the "which color" thread), hand't notices the Q before, didn't mean to blow you off.

You know I use PS wax. I use RMG prior to PS and I feel like it enhances the flake. It definitely makes it deeper and wetter looking.

thanx 8 I was hoping u would chime in, I have RMG but will be using that in the summer with PS topped with CS maybe.

But for the bad weather i prefer a sealant, i picked up ez glaze cheap and was told I can lazyer AJT over it so going to try that and see if I can get more depth/shine then with AJT alone.

Accumulator, what's the difference between 1Z MP Pro and non-Pro? Where do you find the Pro version?

Velobard....

Contact Wayne of Waynes towels and he has stock of the polish Accumulator speaks of...the Pro version in the round can...and the price is right...

Accumulator got my interest in the MP pro last year...after he explained the qualities of it..I found it and got some...its so easy a caveman can use it ..and the results are nice...

the wax left behind is not a carnauba from what I was told..its a synthetic resin that mimics the look of wax...

Yeah, that will work great to. Be sure your car has been clayed if needed, polished, then the EZ Glaze and AJT. Second coat AJT 24 hours later. I have used the EZ works great! I am a firm beleiver in glazes and pure polishes (Meg 3, 5, 7, 81)...

Yeah, the most direct answer I ever got from 1z was that the consumer MP has a mix of natural/carnauba waxes and "synthetic waxes, whereas the Pro MP only has the synthetic ones (whatever "synthetic waxes" are.. the "resins" explanation sounds good). And the Pro version also has a bit more cut (but still nothing to worry about). It's pretty thick stuff, too..kinda surprising the first time you use it.

And yeah, the Pro stuff only comes in the round, 1-liter can; the consumer stuff comes in the smaller, rectangular can.

Even with all the great new finishing polishes out there these days, the 1z stuff is mighty nice.
