Does Ford have those darned depressions on the roof of their trucks (probably SUVs, too)? I can't see the logic. It sure does create a lot more work than a flat/smooth surface would. After washing, the depressions hold water. During cleaning, they make it really hard to work a PC on the roof.

What's up with that?
 
To give some rigidity to thin sheet metal. If the ridged werent there, the panel would vibrate like a drum at highway speeds.
