Why NXT + #16????

Why do most of ya'll drop a coat of NXT and then a coat of #16 on top of it???? I thought #16 was extremely durable by itself? Wouldn't letting wax sit on top of a sealant make it lose some luster and durability?

Also, can any of you all really tell a difference visually when you do this? I would think that even if it looked a tad glossier when you are done, once you drive it on the road, all the dust and contaminants would quickly cover it up.

I am just curious because I have some #16 coming in a few days and I wanted to apply a couple thin coats on top of #7. I figured that was a lethal combo... No???

I think the two provide a bit more durability. On new paint, immediately following completion, I do not see a difference if I stop at NXT or just have one application of #16.

On older paint, I think I get a better look using both.

I dont do it for durability. I do it for looks. Much like Scott, I desire that wet look that nxt + 16 gives

Can #26 be used over NXT for similar results? Just curious since I have both.

FYI, my first post and this is a great site. Back in the day when we were still allowed to shoot laquers, I've had my share of mishaps with rotary's using 3M and Megs stuff. I've been out of it for years, last update for me was using Zaino a few years back. I just picked up a 7336 PC and ordered some Optimum products and can't wait to start up again. I can spend hours on this site.

Since #26 doesn't contain cleaners, it can be used over most sealants. It would tend to give a warmer look.

I put #26 over NXT (well, I had a coat of GC in between) and the results were spectacular! I'm hunting down some #16 now.
