Why not Paint as Sealant?

As long as it is completely removable, why not think in terms of transparent *paint*?

I thought of this when I associated my wife's (waterborne) acrylic paints with "sealants".

Another motivator in this direction is the need for rock chip repair. I suppose we must be involved with actual paint, anyway, in our auto care.

A removable, easily replaceable clearcoat, is what I have in mind. The sealants provide something like this. But thinking in terms of paint opens the field of options.

My priority is protection. I wonder which of the sealants discussed here is closest to what I have described?

Klasse, Zaino, or Liquid Glass, I would guess.

Well, I'd think that for any paint to bond to the "regular" paint it's gonna mess it up. But I'm no chemist!

The KSG is a "semi-permanent" coating, so IMO it's close to what you're thinking about. Six layers lasted me over a year on a daily driver/beater, which is (IMO) awfully impressive considering Ohio winters. That's about as permanent as I'd like to get. With that much on the paint, you can actually *feel* the SG; it's like a plastic coating.

Thanks.

After all of my excessive study, Klasse is what I'm going to use, for now. Edit: I bought Klasse, but finally used NXT.

Why not paint? Because paint aint slickery. Make sure you use the twins for best results. AIO then SG or bust. I went down to wholefoods and bought a little 1oz. spray bottle, I put sg and spray the applicator, it puts a thin even coat, that's my klasse tip of the day.

I've bought several small eye glass cleaner type spray bottles(new empty bottles), and I can't get any of them to spray SG as a mist. They will produce a stream but not a mist. The very same pump head will spray a mist of water just fine but not the SG. What brand are you using?

I don't know the brand but I know you have to clean it immediatly after use and soak it in degreaser. The mist wont be as fine as water (but close) but it will be better than applying it straight from bottle. At whole foods the have glass and plastic 1 or 2 oz spray bottles. I find the plastic works better and its cheaper. I only have one left or I'd hook you up sorry, I'll look next visit. The last time I went I bought last one and they hadn't replaced that style. If I see it I will buy ten, they are awesome. But if you have a whole foods check if they have plain white plastic 1 or 2 oz bottles.

ram!

Try the local "Container's Plus" store. I bought several two and four ounce spray bottles that atomize wonderfully - almost too well. They'd probably work great for SG. I'll try some in the next day or two and let you know.
