Why Is Better To Dry With A Mf Towel Than Chamois??

Hi to everybody!!

Just wanted to now why many experts recommend microfiber towels to dry.

Are MF towels better than chamois? WHY?? thats the key

Thanks for your advice

MF towels ( particularly the waffle weaves or WW ) absorb and HOLD more water than a chamois, thereby eliminating water streaks. They can dry an entire car without needing to be wrung out. That is why the WW mf is better than a chamois...

Hey Aqua welcome to Autopia! I guess you're the only Spanish here, as I'm the only Portuguese :)

Microfiber towels not only absorb a lot more water but they wont scratch the paint and wont add chemicals, like natural chamois does.

The best ones for drying are the waffle wave microfiber towels.

Yeah, WWs beat a chamois hands down. A chamois can leave oils on the finish and will almost ALWAYS leave a little water behind. The WW leaves the finish dry, period.

aqua,

When I first started my own detailing business I always used a natural chamois, now I use the synthetic Absorber chamois.

In my own experience I have found that the Absorber holds and absorbs just the right amount of water in order to wring it out a few times during the drying process.

I have also found that the Absorber will neither scratch the paint nor add chemicals during the drying process.

In addition, I have found that the Absorber does not cause water streaks and after frequent wringings it never leaves any water behind and certainly leaves the finish completely dry.

Other than that, I am also not really sure why many experts recommend that it is better to dry with a MF Towel.

Frank I used ( and still use the Absorber on *pre* detailed cars where polishing out is required anyway) and since have gone to WW M/F on my black car mostly because there is less drag, than with the Absorber, as the towel moves over the surface thus less chance of marring. I still use the Absorber ( and I have 4 of them ) on my engine and door edges.

The Absorber is hands down 10 levels above a chamois in drying capability and less streaking and the WW M/F just kicks it up a notch.

So in my arsenal M/F and Absorber both have thier place.

Hey Frank, why so hesitant to try the WW ? It seems you could avoid wringing all together.....

Patrick,

Good question. I guess I figured that the more wringing the better chance of any fine dirt particles being rinsed out during the drying process. Maybe that's really not an issue.

Jesstzn,

I do like the idea that there is less drag with a WW compared to the Absorber. Therefore, less chance for surface marring.

Thanks for the added info.

I use my CWB (hot topic for some), followed by a MF (non WW) to clean up the rest of the water.

I have used an Absorber before, but like some of the others have said, there is no drag with the MF cloth...

I also use the Absorber. I've used a chamois, cotton towels and (non-WW) microfiber towels. I like the Absorber because it doesn't leave lint. While it doesn't leave the paint completely dry, whatever water is left doesn't leave any water spots. I also feel that it is the kindest method on my wax or sealant. I haven't jumped on the WW bandwagon because I've been happy with the Absorber.
