Why do I live in the Northeast?

My parents met in San Diego in the early 1960`s...and moved to Cleveland ON PURPOSE. Nice choice.

Usual 30 minute drive to work took 2hr 30 minutes today.

Some day when we sell the business and I can retire Florida here I come (at least for 3-4 months a year). I cant stand winter, I am pro Global warming.

Having lived in NE Ohio and moving to Florida last year, I feel your pain. At least take comfort knowing it was cold here as well with a high of 55 yesterday and lows in the low 40`s.

I hate you, I would dislike that post if I didn`t dislike giving dislikes so much.

That`s why we moved south ... shorts and a t-shirt 360+ days a year ..especially if you are from up north ... winter coats come out at 60 for the locals ;)

I feel for you guys during winter. I hate the cold; anything below about 65 I have a jacket on.

South isn`t all it`s cracked up to be, though. Come talk around mid-August when its 95 degrees, 85% humidity, and a heat index of ~110. Ugh. Instant sweat, and AC electricity bills are $250 -300+

Don`t worry, come hurricane season living in the NE vs. SE will seem like a great idea. Just to refresh everyone`s memory:

Yeah, no thank you. I`ll take snow.

I kicked around moving down south for a while. Maybe Georgia or SC - possibly FL... Even interviewed for pharmacy school at Campbell (NC) and Mercer (GA) - got into both schools. But like Cosby - I choose Temple, which is located in basically a neighborhood of crack houses in N. Philly.

But, while those are all nice places to visit, something always seems lacking down there as a place to live. Even though I never go into Philly, I like it being sort of near by. I can`t put my finger exactly on why, but I`m going to be near Philly for life...

Got to admit Philly & NYC have the best food.

$250-$300 would be a bargain .... heating is much more expensive .. We used to have $600+ for cold winter months :o

Lol I moved from Toronto to Atlanta 3 years ago.
I feel your pain, I lived that for 23 years.
Atlanta gets cold but barely snows and a light dusting shuts the entire city down.

?!? Yikes.

We had gas heat at our house in Houston. Had a period a year or two ago where the heat was on constantly most of the month - i think our gas bill was like $60.

My grandparents up north have heating oil.... I know that is expensive stuff (or can be).

it also depends on how big an area there is to heat and what temp. you are willing to deal with .. my mother never has it above 68 and 62 at night .. it`s like a meat locker .. you have to wear heavy clothes indoors .. I`ll keep the hot weather and turn the ac off if i get too cold ;)

Ugh. Hope your drive home is better
By noon all was pretty much clear and sunny...but still cold.
I can`t imagine moving to Cleveland on purpose.
I guess those were the days when you followed your job...NASA said "Go to Cleveland..." and off they went. NASA couldn`t have said "Go to Cape Canaveral..."?

Went to a mid-July wedding in Emerald Isle, NC a few years ago...8am, soaked in sweat. Was unreal. On the plus side, ya don`t have to shovel humidity, nor does it make you slide off the road into a ditch. I think.

The perfect answer, though everyone can`t do it, is to have a condo in Florida from December 26 to say, April 30. Then back to New England, or wherever, up North.
