Why Am I Destroying Pads?

I using 105 on a LC HD 5.5 X 1.25 on a Griots RO at speed 5, medium pressure. Not even enough to slow the motor.

I do 3 passes (1 = left right up down - 18 X 18 area) brushing the pad in between new areas. I am using about........ a pea and a half, 3 spots. Spread on setting 3.

Here's the result after maybe half a car total. Is that just the average lifespan or am I hammering down on them too hard? Overworking the polish and beating up the pad? I started giving it a spritz of Mothers Showtime in the meantime waiting on my M34 to show up.

Thoughts much appreciated!

It could be heat related. Are you using an extension cord? If you don't use one that provides enough current the motor will get way hotter than it should and the heat transfers to the plate and pad through the shaft.
