Who Survives The Winter?

:wavey Winters are reasonably mild in the Dallas area, lows in the 30s, highs in the 50s. It can get uncomfortable working and drying cars isn't easy once it gets below 50, but you can work and most days are nice enough that people want clean cars to drive around in but don't want to wash their cars themselves.

The only thing that hurts me in the winter is that it is dark by about 5:20 PM for about a month and we get some fronts that stall out over Texas and give us 5-6 days straight of rain. On good days, I make about the same as I do in the summer.

i'm in the New Orleans area so our winters are relatively mild also. however, with the windchill coming off Lake Ponchartrain it gets in the low 30's and sometimes mid 20's, but by 9am the temp starts rising quickly. i have the same 100 - 125 cars that i do every month throughout the year, so other than rain i'm always doing about the same every month.

Northeastern states are some of the areas that get hit bad with winter weather! There is some pretty good profit potential up here (WHEN THE WEATHER IS GOOD! ), but I'm really considering moving south...Florida, etc. I don't know yet, but I'll see what happens.

If I get pretty successful one day, maybe then I'll stay open until the weather gets bad, and then take off for the winter.....not gonna happen now!

About one hundred fifty plus inches of snow here per season. Winters are very tuff and even tuffer when we don't do dealer work. Staying power is what it's all about. 30 years later I must admit you just have to make enough in 8 months of the year or you will never get past the first year.
