Who here uses power washers to wash cars? Input.

Like the title says. Unless it's a car that I frequently take care of, I use my Exell Honda powered 2700psi power washer all the time. In my opinion wheels, tires, wheel whells, and undercarrage of the car turns out much better then just using a hose.

I also found spraying down dirty floor mats with an all purpose cleaner/degreaser and going over them with the power washer does the job better then anything I've ever tried (including an expensive steam cleaner from a detail shop I used to work at) Afterwards I use my shop vac to get the majority of the water out.

So who here swears by the power washer like you do by your PC 7424?

Almost all jobs that i see a power washer is a must...wheel wells and wheels would be a nightmare without it....Powerwasher on the carpet with an APC however....sounds kinda harsh...IMO...

For those that use a pressure washer, how much pressure is ideal? How much pressure is too much? What else should I be looking for in a PW? I've been kicking around the idea of picking up a PW for some time now. I don't do this professionally, I only detail my own truck along with a few family member's and friend's cars. Because of that I'm going to stick with a farily cheap brand like Craftsman.

Any power washer out there offers enough pressure to cause damage to paint (on trim, flexible plastic like bumpers, ect.) So the main thing to remember is not to get the water jet too close. I've found that out the hard way more then once.

Don't go with an electric power washer, I had a cheap one that cost just under $100 and it only lasted 3 months. I bought a gas Honda powered one and have never had a problem for the 3 years I've owned it. Not to mention it does wonders on driveways, sidewalks, brick, ect. You get what you pay for basically.
