White scuff on plastic grill

I had something on the lower plastic grills on my car. Didnt look like overspray though. It was stubborn. I use a "soft touch" scouring pad and used soap and water to lube and very gentle pressure. Whatever it was came off. However I learned a valuable lesson, plastic is finicky. Now its all white and discolored. Is there anything in the poorboys lineup that can fix this? SSR1 made it look a little better, but not good enough.
 
Can you tell me what kind of car?
Is the plastic grainy styled or smooth?
The white marks are a result of the sourcing pad lieka brrilo pad?
 
The car is an 02 Jetta

The plastic is smooth, not grainy

However I did a few spots, not very noticeable on my lower lip too. Its not grainy but it is textured a bit, hard plastic like the lower grills as well.
