my first lesson on how to burn paint...

I wasnt expecting to get every scratch out, and some are still there after my first lesson, along with some pretty bad rock chips and pits... but I am extremely happy with the results of my first machine polishing attempt.

I used a Makita bo6040 dual action sander.

Steps:

  • Wash with dawn
  • Clay
  • Take off scoop, vents, wing
  • Bug and tar spray on the front parts
  • rinse
  • Clay some more
  • Clay even more on stubborn tar spots
  • Menz IP/orange pad (multipl passes in forced rotation mode)
  • wash with dawn again
  • Menz FPII and white pad (multple passes in Forced rotation mode then RO mode)
  • Wash with dawn again
  • Collinite 845 with white pad
  • Put on scoop, vents, wing
  • finish up with collinite 845
  • followed up with hand buf with microfiber towel

Nice job . Very impressive for that first time job . I also use the Makita BO6040 and it works really good for me . It is a perfect combination of both worlds. I hardly ever use my PC anymore . For soft Suby paints I always reach for the BO6040 . I also have the Makita Rotary that is a very good machine for polishing .

Anyway the job came out very good congratulations . Thanks for sharing .

Cheers , Jean Paul
