Which shampoos/washes do you use?

I'm sure that this has probably been discussed a hundred times before. And yes, I did try to do a search for this topic....several times. Each time the page came up blank. There was nothing on it. Maybe a server error, I don't know.

I currently use Meg's Deep Crystal wash. It's ok, but I'm guessing that it's more of a maintenance product. What is a good product to use to remove wax build up and tough road grime and bugs? I read on a different site where a detailer washed his customer's vehicle twice with dish detergent. I thought that using dish washing soap was bad for a car's finish?

Any quality car wash should do - there's going to be a large element of personal preference.

I use Zaino Z7, Griot's Car Wash, Meguiar's NXT wash, Eagle One Wet, etc.

Strictly an onr user but the few times I do use a shampoo its either poorboys super slick and suds or chemical guys wash and clear for stripping the car down

Hi

There are a couple of things you can do:

1: Foam the car first with strong carwash formula like CGs Citrus Wash/Citrus Gloss, at the right strengh that will strip the car. You could wash in the normal way and just us a strong mix of that soap.

2: Simple take your normal car wash and add about 1 once of Megs All Purpose Cleaner to a 3 US Gallon Bucket or 2OZ to a 5 US Gallon bucket. That should strip the wax and increase the cleaning ability!

3: Purchase CGs "strong" wash

4: Add Poorboys Bug Squash to your carwash mix, about 1oz to a 3 US G bucket or 2 to a 5 US G bucket.

The list goes on!

In the winter I like Megs NXT, very effective on winter dirt which is a lot tougher than summer dirt.. In the summer I use Gold class or Shampoo plus..

Meg's APC+ works quite well as a de-waxer and should have no issues removing bugs, etc.

Agreed. I do the same thing...I'll just spray the car down with my APC mixture, and use a Schmitt as my wash medium. Rinse. Then hit it with the 2BM.

As far as soaps go....

I recently ordered CG CW&C and I've been very impressed thus far. I also like: Z7, P21S Conditioning Shampoo, DG 901/902, Megs Hyper Wash.

the nice thing about this is you can use it at different dilution ratios for whatver you're accomplishing, from just a routine wash to stripping your lsp, etc... a bargain at only $20 a gallon as well...

Poorboys.....very good

Surf City Garage ......very good

My favorite.......................Pearls....................excellent

I'm still using Griot's, but I might try Optimum's wash (the regular shampoo, not ONR) as I hear it compares well.

I'm using up my old stuff (primarily down to the Meg's #62 now) on wheels and wheelwells (and the undercarriages of the good vehicles).

I have a few that I regularly use, but I'm sure there are many others that are just as good.

Barley dirty vehicle: ONR

Regular wash with foam gun: Meg's GC, sometimes NXT

Strip everything for clay/polish: CG CW&G

Finishing up my bottle of Z7, it's a good slick one, and I think it's my favorite smelling product of all time :D

Just bought some DG902, and it's actually a pretty great soap as well. It's definitely got some good detergents in it because I used it on our motor home and it cleaned off some green tree rubbings that you couldn't even scratch off with your nails. Plus the Cherry Scent is nice, and it works wonderfully in my foam lance.

Also I've got the obligatory bottle of CG Citrus Wash and Clear for the LSP stripping wash. It's a good soap. I've never tried their CWG but it's probably considered the better shampoo of the 2 since it's got the glossing agents.
