Which product to use to remove light scratches in chrome bumpers

Have a friend with a 63 Cadillac. He is currently restoring and detailing this car for a local show. He asked if I knew of a product to remove light scratches in chrome bumpers. I figurerd the experts on this board would know.

He has tried the usual scratch remover from 3M, mothers chrome paste, and another scratch remover he could not remember the name of. If you guys and gals have any suggestions, we would appreciate it.

I could be wrong here but I do not know of any thing that will remove them from chrome.
The only thing that comes to mind would be a rotary with a real hard wheel that can get the metal hot with a good chrome polish..But that is just a guess
 
:wait ...:wait...sorry ...nothing except replating will remove scratches from chrome...
 
I have had great success on "old chrome" such as that you are working with using the following method:

Using 3M Micro finishing compound paste (comes in the gallon can) and a cutting pad with a high speed buffer set at about 1725rpm. Apply the compound with a cheap paintbrush then buff till the pad turns black and the compound is gone. If you will not be removing the bumper, be sure to mask off the grill, turn-signals and cornering lights as well as the cover the front end of the car with some plastic. This is a compound and it will sling product. Be careful not to buff upon the stainless or anodized bright-work for although it will make it shine, I believe on a '63 they have a matte luster that is not supposed to shine. Follow up by buffing once more with a clean pad and your favorite metal polish by machine, then by hand. I prefer to use either Mothers Mag & Aluminum or Blue Magic Metal Polish but I'm sure others here will swear by something else.

Wax it as a your final stage.

Keep in mind that this method will not remove pits, or any scratch that you your fingernail will "click" into.
 
and before the coments come flying..... yes I buff chrome, but no, I don't buff helmets !!
