When I worked at a hot rod shop doing paint and body work (restorations) on very high end hot rods I had a old guy show me a trick for when compounding and swirl removing a paint job and getting the stuff all over the rubber and trim... Get some black ebony (3M swirl remover or any swirl remover) on a rag and scrub or wipe it onto the spots with the white wax, compound or polish. This will take it off easily and works great. Try it and I'm sure you will be impressed. As for dressing, I use Stoner Trim Shine. Works great for me and gives it a UV protection.
