Which PC Pad Kit to buy???????

I've been detailing by hand for 20+ years and the time has finally come for me to buy a PC 7424 kit. I really need some help from my fellow Autopians on this one!! (WhiteMax,Scottwax,Accumulator,BlkZ28Conv,GSR,Intercooled,ZaneO,Richt,The MightyTimmah etc.) Autopia,AutoGeek & Top of the Line sites all have some pretty tempting kits, but I'm looking for some solid info from the experienced "users" here. I'm looking to but right now so any info would be greatly appreciated!! If you were me, which PC pad Kit would you buy??? Thanks in advance!!! :thx :buffing:

I would think after 20 yrs of hand polishing and sealing, you'll appreciate whatever kits you choose. Welcome to a new frontier of car care Texan.....

Just to add some background info...........I detail mainly my own truck & for my friends & family. I do pick up details on the side from time to time. ( when my schedule allows ) Quality, not price, is the importance for me. ( the PC 7424 is the machine I want.......It's the pad quality that I'm most concerned with. Is the SFX kit worth the investment?

Patrick,

I have a passion for detailing by hand but even I must admit............To achieve perfection one must use a PC. It's time to kick it up a notch!! besides........I'm getting too old (37) to polish by hand! lmao!

How's the snow up there??

Fun! Along with the freezing rain and ice!

Yeah I have a blast driving in it, now that I have tires that actually work during the winter. It's just sad when you look at the car after driving through all that mess. :(

Have been using a Pc for a little under two years. Have purchased pads from all of the vendors that you mentioned but one. Excel detail has a good pad at a good price. That is not saying anything against any of the other vendor. They have good pads also.

Since I have a rotary I wanted to find a pad that can be used by both the PC and the rotary. In paint correcting terms size does matter. Just do your homework, get comfortable with your PC, then go to the vendor that has the type of pads that you like.

If you choose a larger pad(7.5") check out Danase detailing supply. They have very competitive rates for a 7.5" pad.

Thanks cwcad. After doing some searches, it appears that many here like just about all the pads available. I have finally met my match so to speak with my 2005 Toyota Tacoma Black Sand Pearl paint. It seems that marring occurs on my finish just by thinking about marring. (lol)

I really like my Lake Country pads that I got at pakshak. I have an orange/white/black 6.5" set for general usage and when I really need to kick it up a notch, I have a set of a yellow/orange/white 4" pads. They have done everything that I've asked them to do without any problems. I'm having no backing separation at all and I admit I'm not the nicest person to my pads (Most of the time I'm lazy and throw them in the washing machine). They're great pads.

oh, and to help with your truck. Buy a foam gun!! There's a foam gun review thread in this section and in it people posted several links to where you can buy one. You won't regret buying it.

Hey BlkTac05,

The PC is the best thing that I have ever purchased. There is one problem. I have a black truck and try to keep it up with the PC. It comes to a point where the PC just takes to much time. So you go to the rotary to correct something faster and better. Here is the problem...I never seem to acheive the final destination. Because there is always one more pass to make it perfect. I have found that I love that challenge.

Have fun and good luck!!

I now what you mean! My black truck is a daily driver & keeping it "Autopian" is a challenge, to say the least. I can't keep my hands off it for more than a week.

I only got my PC earlier in the year after previously working by hand despite being on this board for a few years kept putting it off. With the arrival of te first black car in by mid summer I was a PC owner too.

I have both the SFX and DAS pads from Autopia and a few odd LC pads.

For me I like the SFX ones for aggressive work and the DAS ones for my own car, mainly light polishing and glazes.

The DAS ones are larger and softer, the SFX ones,s maller, more dense foam, polishes stay wet for longer and help me to achieve paint correction quicker on badly treated customers cars.

I really want to try the Propel and Megs ones next.

I have the DAS versions. I'm not sure if they had the SFX pads when I bought the DAS kit from Autopia.

I brought both as I had to import all the way over here to see which I like best, the spot pads are only found in the SFX range so I would have ended up buying both types in one form or another anyway.

The SFX 4 inch spot pads are a must buy IMO .
