which new pads for my metabo?

I am planning to buy a few new pads for my rotary soon.

I have it narrowed down to trying the new LC CCS 6.5 flat pads or the LC CCS 7.5 curved edge pads.

Basically I want some feedback on the size preference and the shape preference. I was thinking the 6.5 flat pads but I noticed the curved 7.5 pads aren't radically curved and I wouldn't hv to worry about the plate damaging the paint. Not looking for input on the dimple design.

Tks in advance.

I've heard alot of good things about the pads you are referring too. I would go with them if I had not had so much success with my EDGE2K pads. Mine have held up so well and just plainly get the job done. Two pads in one don't hurt either.

What polishes will you be using?

I have heard excellent things baout the new CCS LakeCountry pads but have yet to try them out on either my PC or Makita, and am patiently awaiting their arrival in the UK. However, one thing I would say is that at the moment I am currently using Meguiars pads on my rotary and I find them to absolutely excellent! Very easy to control on the rotary, a nice range of cuts from burgandy cutting to tan finishing, last well and deliver me excellent results when used in conjunction with the Menzerna polishes I use.

What size backing plate do you have and what size and style pads are you using currently. I prefer a flat 6.5 inch pad but others seem to like the 7.5 with a little curve to it. looks like my vote would be the 6.5 for control and ease of use for me. I also like the fact that I can use the same pads on my pc and rotary due to backing plate size :up

I would give serious consideration to Pro Wax's pads. I like the waffle textured ones. They are not curved, but since they are textured they do not grab the paint. The pads are very well made. I use them on my Metabo with the Meguiars backing plate. I like the Meg's plate because it has a built in centering button.

My rotary backing plate is 6".

I have used flat and curved pads for my PC but tend to use the cyclo more these days. I will probably get a few of the 4" too.

pt91 -I've used the 6.5 CCS pads on my last 4 details and they are smooth as butter via the rotary. I'm not sure if I'm sold on the CCS angle just yet, but as far as operation/handling I give them a big thumbs up. I picked mine up from properautocare. If you buy them from the blackfire store you get free shipping.

fwiw -I've been tossing them in the washing machine, and the backing material has held up like a champ.

I don't like 7.5 pads as well on the rotary -but that might be a personal preference. I always have better luck with 6-6.5 pads on the rotary.

Good luck.

There are a number of plates that'll work. The rotary doesn't do the "cookie cutter" thing like the PC so smaller plates can work fine. But IMO smaller plates make it harder to center the pads properly.

I prefer the ~5 7/8" flex plate myself, got it at TOL.
