Which Menzerna Finishing Polish?

I have a 2006 Lexus GS300 with solid black paint which is known to be soft. I want to try Menzerna finishing polishes. Which finishing polish should I get? Thanks for the help.

I would get l06ff in case you get some deeper stratches. If your paint is in good condition, start with a grey pad. If it doesn't work you can move up to a white polishing pad and then finish off with a grey or blue pad. I use 87MC with a red pad to finish off the 106.

Another vote for FPII here. If you're using a PC, you might want to consider PO85RD. It's has just a shade more bite to it than FPII.

SB, does the 85RD dust as much as FPII?

Go for the FPII on soft paint. If you need a little more correction from it use a white LC pad with FPII then finish with a black LC pad.

I don't think a ceramiclear polish is needed for soft paint.

No, not nearly as bad.

Ceramiclear polishes aren't ever *really* needed on anything but really hard clears. However, they will still work very well on almost any paint, and they work *very* well on soft paints *when used with a PC*.

Of the 3 finishing polishes mentioned so far (106ff, 87MC and 85RD), which of the 3 most likely will not leave any micromarring or will finish off the best? I'm using a Flex and have CCS blue, black and white pads. My paint is so soft that finishing polishes sometimes leave micromarring.

Menzerna products are not cheap so I want to be absolutely sure I get the right product.

With paint that soft, and the extra power of the Flex over the PC, I'd say that the best choice is going to be Menzerna Final Polish II. It's level of abrasiveness is just below that of PO85RD (which is the finest abrasive in the ceramiclear rated polishes). FPII doesn't have the chops to correct much in the way of swirls or paint defects. It'll probably take multiple applications (like three or four) to get out the swirls and look good. You might want to use the white foam to get out the swirls, then use a zero bite pad like the LC black for the final application. FPII is the very finest (as in smallest abrasives) finishing polish I've ever used. If it can't finish off your soft clear, nothing can. :)

MDRX8, how well does PO85RD work on soft paints with a DA? I've only had my PO85RD for a short time; I haven't done any really soft clears with it yet, so I was hesitant to recommend it for really soft paint. PO85RD is lubed alot better than FPII, though, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear that it works well on soft paints with a DA.

I know, I know, this is about Menz polishes. BUT, I deal with soft clears every stinking day of the week. Please consider UF. It finishes awesome with finishing pads and if you need a bit more bite then step down with the pad. Go White then grey or black if needed. There will be absolutely NO marring!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will have a band of polish from your knees to your chest but it is SO worth it. IMO

It does work well with soft paints. I use a finishing pad to polish for a fresh coat of wax. I got some UF and I am going to try it out also.

After clayin, my Lexus LS430 loves Menz SIP (very little need), 106FF, and 85RD. I am still deciding whether Ultima PPP has a place in my process.

the pads I use have been LC orange and white lately.

I finish with 2x Ultima PGP, 2x DWG, and 2x UPGP.

Buff the end result with a bigh thick MF.

For spots and light cleanings I use ONR.

Our Ford minivan needs more SIP but the rest of the process is much the same as the Lexus.

My mother's Buick needs much more SIP and a heavier cutting pad (at times) to start, and then the process again is much the same. Requires more passes than the Ford or Lexus though.

I use a Flex 3401.
