Ok guys and girls. My dad was thinking of switching insurance company. I would like your opinion on which insurance company has the best price (with the same coverage and without any traffice violations or accidents) and service. There are three cars and three drivers, and I am on of them. I'm only 17 so insurance is high. I've listed a couple of companies in the poll, so choose one and I would like to know why. Thanks in advance.

Steer clear of State Farm at all costs. Have caught not only my agent, but also the company claims people, in significant lies upon a number of occasions now. Some of which, in my estimation, bordered on Fraud. Am still following up my complaint to the State Attorney Generals' Office over one such occurence.

I got the best price with progressive, by far. However, my friend didn't get the best price through them, so it depends on your particular situation. I think most if not all of the companies you listed allow you to obtain a quote online. Should just fill out a quote for each one and see which one gives the best price.

As for best service, I wouldn't know. Haven't ever been in an accident where I was at fault and needed to use my insurance co.

I am 19 and Allstate had the lowest rate for more coverage when I got my license at 18. My rate dropped $1,000 after the first year but my May renewal is about the same as my November renewal was. Only thing I do not like is that my local agent's office will not write me for anything less than 100/300/50 (I have no assets and it is my own policy). Still, my coverage is greater than it would have been with Progressive (they wanted twice Allstate's rate!), Nationwide, etc.

We have had really good luck with AIG, they are great about taking care of accidents and making sure the customer is happy. A few years ago they covered a wreck for us in which the driver was didn't have a licence and wasn't on the policy. They took care of it and sent the check out within a month. Then on my last wreck they sent out a check within three weeks. And everyone that I have needed to talk to was very freindly. The rates like any other company depend on your situation as a whole, but ours are very reasonable. About about 1400 a year with not so clean records. Good luck finding a company it can be very time consuming sometimes trying to figure out who is/will be best for you.

I dunno about the cost, but I sure get good service from Chubb.

I'm in the process of dealing with an accident and the subsequent repairs. Progressive represents the lady who rear-ended my minivan, and they were gonna insist on used parts. This is on a like-new vehicle with a detailed undercarriage/low miles/etc. And they were gonna be jerks about my rental car. Chubb makes things painless :xyxthumbs

I reccommend either Geico or Allstate. I have been in the insurance industry for over 5 years now and I can say that both companies offer good service with a good price. Whatever your choice may be stay with one of the big names, this will come really handy when it comes down to claims litigation on a 50/50 claim and claim handling time. Also research this site it will offer you some good help. http://www.ambest.com/

Just recently did the insurance dance with about every company I could find. I have a sports car (2003 MR2 Spyder) but no tickets nor accidents. I was absolutely shocked when the best quote I could get was with Allstate, and at a considerably cheaper price than any of the competition. Just goes to show you that you really should search everywhere and everything.

I have State Farm and couldn't be happier.

Don't necessarily go with the "cheapest" because when the times comes for a repair, they are "cheap" for a reason. State Farm, at least mine, repaired my car with all brand new parts, not used. Make sure you get the details.

I have been very happy with State Farm. I've been with my agent some 20 years now and they have been honest, reasonably priced and very, very responsive.

Like L33, in a wreck ten years ago they used mfr parts and recommended a quality shop.

Your best bet IMO is to contact about 3-5 Independent Insurance agents and let them do the shopping for you. Most of them write for 10, 20 or 50 different companies and they will shop for you to get you the best rate. They'll punch your numbers into the computer and see who has the best rates for you. Its a big time and money-saver.

My last 6 month premium was close to $100 less than what Progressive wanted, and they were on the cheaper end of the scale. Other companies were much higher.
