Which Collinite?

Which of the Collinite waxes do Autopians recommend for use over 1 coat of AIO and 2 coats of UPP...black vehicle?

I have a local marine parts store that sells Collinite, but wasn't sure which one people like on black.

They are all very similar despite the varying prices. You can go for the 476 Detergent Proof for serious longevity. I like the Insulator Wax for my wheels. I've seen a dark colored Porsche on the forum that had been topped with Insulator Wax and it looked awesome.

Since you are shopping at a marine store, I believe the one you want is the Fleetwax paste, which I believe (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) is supposed to be the same as 476.

Correct 4DSC, 885 Fleetwax paste is the same as 476s.

Unclearty will have a better chance at finding the 885 at a marine store, plus it comes in a larger 12oz. can (476 is 9oz.). Same great results though!

Recently I bought the "Collinite Marque D'Elegance, how does this differ from the other Collinites?

It costs more money! :D :D

There is no difference in the end result! In fact, I spoke to a representative at Collinite and he said stick with the 476; that there is really no difference between the two. In fact, that was mentioned in the Guru report http://www.gurureports.org/

I use the 476 and love its longevity. Like I said, I use Insulator Wax on my wheels. Both are wonderful non abrasive, non cleaner type waxes.

Like I've said, its a sleeper wax. It should have a place on everyone's shelf who live in harsh climates. I use mine during the winter. One coat just lasts and lasts.

I have the Marque D'Elegance, it was $24.00 shipped. I liken it to Blitz paste wax but apply and remove it like I do S100. It's a bear to remove if you let it haze up from my experience with it. Their web site mentions allowing it to haze but the rep I got it from suggested removing it before it hazes, I'd say he was pretty correct with that. I like though over AIO for durability, haven't tried the others

Well...I went there last night to buy some...lo and behold..OUT OF STOCK! Both the liquid and the paste..no idea when they're getting more. So I went to a local auto parts store and found some Gliptone carnauba....without polishes. Will give that a try...if it ever gets nice outside.

Isn't next week SUPPOSED to be the start of summer????

I have the Collinite Marquee #915. If you still want some, I have used it twice and would be willing to send it to you for $15 plus shipping.

LOL, this weather blows!

Gliptone isnt that great. I have their car wash soap. Collinite is SUPERIOR.

try http://www.autofanatics.com/collinite1.html

Buddy of mine used it on his brand new 03 silver cobra in August. Still hasn't applied a coat of wax to that car and its now June!! Snow, salt, rain, grime. The car is a daily driver too!

I am thinking about redoing my car with a bunch of zaino, but then topping it with the insulator wax. I tried a small spot on my car and it doesn't seem to leave any haze or change the color at all. I have a silver trans am. The only thing I did notice is it made the paint look a little more glossy!!

Is the insulator wax layerable? Or is it one of those 1 time on type waxes?

Unfortunately...I get kinda OBSESSED..I want things..NOW!! When I went on this Collinite quest, I wanted to drive somewhere and buy it NOW...not mail order it, and receive it 10 days from now. I was kinda shocked and surprised when I called this local boating center and was told that they do indeed carry Collinite. Drove straight there after work to find.."yes we carry Collinite, but we've been out of it since 1969"...or something to that effect..I stopped listening. Here in Massachusetts, we apparently have no local store to buy anything "high end". Yes, I know about Autofanatics, but being open 9-5pm M-F doesn't really help me...they're over an hour away and I do need to work to support my detailing habit.

I recently ordered Klasse online on a Tuesday...I didn't receive it till the following Friday..10 days!! I was outside waiting for the UPS guy the first Friday!

Guess I'm gonna have to take my life savings and open a detailing supply shop here in Massachusetts....but then I'll STILL have to wait for the UPS guy........***sigh*** TGIF

WOW...there must have been a shift in the space-time continuum...I literally just got a call from the marine center...the just received Collinite Fleet wax paste....I'm gonna have to go for a late lunch today. :bow

For a new user the lower price on 476 might appeal to some.

I agree, and I have heard that there is probably little if any difference in gloss and clarity. If the 476 lasts even longer than the 915 then it would really be a bargain. I just love this stuff!
