which collinite?

I was looking at getting some Collinite and I thought the Insulator wax was the cat's ***, but then on their site I saw the Super Doublecoat, which they are describing as a "permanent wax". Which one will seal the best and give the best shine over Menzerna polishes?

476 is one of the most durable waxes on the market and leaves great paint protection. 845 isn't too far behind. I remember the first time I used 476s, I nearly had to take a hammer and chisel to remove the stuff! It leaves a nice shine too, IMO.

If you're looking for just the best shine between 845 and 476, I'd go with 845. If you want a bit better protection and durability, choose 476.

I haven't tried 476, but I have 845 and it is my all around favorite wax. Lasts 4-6 months without QD or booster waxes(at least in my experience), and leaves a really wet shine that looks awesome on light metallics.

They are both excellent products. I use both on a regular basis.

I'll go against the grain and say that in my experience 476S is the better looking of the two. On both of my cars (which are both shades of gray), it just has a better look.

The first time I tried 476S, I applied by hand and put it on way too thick. It was quite a workout getting it off. I now apply via PC, very thin, and it is actually very easy to work with.

845 is a great product. It is so easy to apply and just seems to spread for ever. You'll be suprised by how little you actually use. Removal is just as easy.

Both product are very tough, and will last for months. IMO, you can't go wrong with either one.

I too use both and IMO the appearance differences aren't all *that* significant, at least not after a few washes. Overall, I prefer th 476S paste wax.

No Collinite will ever compare to a Matrix Micro Coating. I guarantee that. We actually cure our product with infrared lights. Makes varnish very scratch resistant, and a deeper gloss than ANY wax.

I found this stuff on a website. Here's a choice paragraph:

"Matrix Micro-Coatings is like a permanent car wax. Easy to apply, simply wax on and wax off. You'll never wax your vehicle again. The best car wax ain't car wax, it is Matrix Micro-Coatings!"

Of course the best car wax ain't car wax. It's HYPE!:spot

915 for me. Slightly better durability I have found (enduring Scottish weather) than the 476S, and the 476 is supberb. Also, not sure about prices in the USA, but in the UK the 915 comes in a 12oz tub as opposed to the 9oz tub of the 476, and only costs very slightly more so acutally works out cheaper to buy. This may well be a consideration too as looks wise there's nothing between the two waxes I have found really.

Err... so is this really suitable for applying by hand by your typical car owner working at home??

Would like to see some comparison pics of the depth of shine from this coating up against the Collinite, Zymols, Swissols and Victorias to name but a few to back up this claim. :)

dmxsoulja3- Dunno if you can use it over UPP but that's only because UPP is so oily/low friction that I don't see most things bonding to it all that well. But OTOH people have layered KSG over UPP so I bet it'd work OK. I wouldn't want to do it though, the UPP looks better and feels slicker than the Collinite- for me it's an either/or choice because they're such differently-oriented products.

EDIT: Cheetah is using NB over UPP so there shouldn't be any problems with using Collinite over it.

476S is basically 845 Insulator Wax from what I understand and have seen.

I dunno...I suppose impressions/opinions will vary but I did *not* get the impression that the 845 is just a liquid form of 476S. The guys at Collinite said "no, it's different" too, but I never know how seriously to take some things like that that manufacturers say ;) Doing things like letting both dry on the applicators, examining surfaces treated with both, using both to clean off mild contamination (I know, that's a bit outside-the-box but I was curious about how well their solvents would do it), nothing says "they're the same" to me :nixweiss

845IW in the summer and 476S in the winter. This year I used 845IW for winter and after 5 months it is still beading ...unreal !

It depends on my mood or if I am applying by machine or hand, but mostly I use 845IW because it is easier and less work.
