We were on Sprint but my dad was getting sick of them. I think we are going to switch to Verizon, but I'm not sure. I was just wondering what everyone else thinks about their carriers.

i just switch to t-mobile from cingular/at&t and couldn't be happier. their customer service is awesome and they'll do anything to resolve/make sure you are taken care of. as i mentioned in another thread, consumer reports magazine (jan 08' issue) did a survey/test and the two carriers that were neck in neck were verizon and t-mobile with the slight edge to verizon. the carriers that were in the survey/test were alltel, sprint, at&t, t-mobile and verizon. here's what they said at the end...

alltel - one of the better providers in the three metro areas for which we had adequte survey data.

at&t - home of the i-phone but trails the better carriers in almost all respects.

sprint - bottm-ranked of carriers we rate.

t-mobile - another solid performer that often offers more for your money.

verizon - among the better carriers this year and in our earlier surveys.

p.s. for $49.99 a month, i get 1500 anytime minutes/un-limited night & weekends. i would of went to verizon but they were just to expensive...

It really depends on your location. I'm still with Cingular because I still have an old school family plan, $80 for 4 phones with 850 minutes and a lot of rollover. They work decent down here, Verizon is better pretty much everywhere except for my parents house, which is why Cingular won.

I've been using At&t/Cingular/At&t since 1999. I have the lowest plan with 450 anytime mins, and my company discount on my monthly bill. It's great to have friends with At&t so I can rack up those rollover mins!

AT&T/Cingular as they have the iPhone. This phone is really neat. BTW. I read that AT&T is building their 3G network due in June. They have the best coverage in the areas I travel in.

Verison uses an old technology but has good customer service and coverage areas.

T-Mo has poor coverage in the areas I travel in.

Overall I've been very happy with the AT&T/Cingular plans. I love the free Mobile-to-Mobile minutes and the rollover minutes. And I love the iPhone.

I have been with Sprint for 12 years now, never had an issue with them. A lot of people complain about their customer service and to be honest I have been one of them but I go into a Sprint store when I have troubles now and I get far better service that way.

I had Sprint in Orlando as well as here in the foothills of SC and have never had an issue with coverage. There are times in the mountains when it can be spotty but you are going to see that with any carrier.

I currently have a Family plan with 1400 minutes that I share with the wife, we will be adding the kids on in the fall. We also have unlimited texting which helps when the wife just needs to ask me to get some milk on the way home :)

My current phone is a Blackberry 8830 and I have their $39 unlimited data plan. I have had the phone for almost 2 months now and I don't know how I got along without it before...

I had Sprint (before they merged with AT&T). I had reception issues any time I got away from the big city, and in a lot of cases even if I got too far from a major 4-lane (where they tend to concentrate towers).

I switched to Verizon 18 months ago. Overall reception is better, i.e. more bars in more places, but there's one thing that has been highly annoying with Verizon. With Sprint, if I missed a call and somebody left me a voice mail, I got a notification on my phone almost immediately. With Verizon, I've had cases when I didn't get a notification on my phone for over 24 hours.

Sprint was so reliable with voicemail that I used to think people were BSing me when they told me they weren't getting messages I left them. Now that I have Verizon, I believe them.

I'm not sure if I'm going to re-up with Verizon when my contract expires. I'll definitely be shopping around.

Don't you mean Cingular? Sprint is in no way affiliated with AT&T ;)

NEXTEL all the way. I love being able to chirp anyone at any given time. The phones are rugged and can handle my lifestyle well.

+1 for nextel! I gave up Sprint and switched to Nextel, then a few months after they merged together. I was roaming in my living room here in Washington with Sprint but everytime I went home to California I had great coverage from Santa Barbara to Orange County. No real problems with Nextel though, and the phone I have has held up well for over 2 years now. i850

AT&T. I have it, my kids have it and most of my family has it. Probably have to change my plan to less minutes because I'm nowhere near what I am allowed.

Verison here, will never stear away from them I always have bars, amazing service, prices are a little higher but you get what you payfor, I still have yet to drop a call in the 9 years I've been with before they were even verizon. My next choice would be sprint, there unlimited plan might have me turing over to them when my contract is up.

Coming from a former AT&T Wireless/Cingular employee, I'd go with Verizon. Part of me feels guilty for most of the family being on Cingular/ATT. I had my own, free employee plan. I also activated my wife and my parents on a discounted, $10 dependent line (ATTWS plan). So because my wife had AT&T, her family started getting AT&T also for the free mobile to mobile. There's a large, AT&T/Cingular call center here in Cerritos, CA and I always found it funny and ironic that even in our own building, we got poor reception.

Pretty much most people at the company knew that if you want voice quality, you go with Verizon. So ATTWS main goal was to win in customer service. Unfortunately, the Seibel 7 upgrade that took down our (GSM) system for months happened during Xmas season and the federally mandated line number porting also happened at the same time. It was a double whammy for the company and instead of trying to fix their problems, the CEO, John Zeglis, was more looking to just sell off the company. He was getting millions anyway, who cares if he screws up the rest of the company. ATTWS was #2 before all this and had possible plans to buy out Sprint, Cingular, or T-Mobile to compete with Verizon's customer base. We all know how that turned out.

I have really good luck with T-Mobile domestic and international. In VT it provides better coverage and reliability than Verizon, but I have to get an Albany, NY phone number. VT is one of the worse states for coverage due to the mountains, lake effect, and minimal towers. So, far it has worked great, Black Berry, throughout Europe and the US. WHere I work there is no ceverage from with a Verizon phone but, my T-Mobile is able to pick up a couple of bars.
