Which Boots?

I am looking for some work/hunting boots. I hear pretty good things about Red Wings and Wolverines, so that's what I've been looking at.

Do you guys have a recommendation for something comfortable, somewhat weather proof, and durable?

I have about seven pairs of Rocky boots. They all have GoreTex. None have ever let my feet get wet no matter what I walked through. I have some with no insulation up to some with 800gms. The 800gms have all kept my feet warm. Rocky makes some models in extra wide and they fit me perfect. Good luck, Wes

Red Wings/Vasque make some very nice boots.

Yeah, I have those, both Red Wing work boots and Vasque hiking boots, and I like 'em. Good for the money too. But I have to buy narrow widths so that sorta cuts down on my options.

Spend enough to get something rebuildable. Take care of them and get them resoled/etc. as needed and good boots will last a long, long time. I know a guy who's still wearing the Red Wings (their heavy duty "logger boots") his then-wife bought him over 20 years ago. They still look like new too, dunno how many soles/heels he's been through.

I have redwing 914's. I've had them for about 4 years and put LOTS of use and abuse on them. It's getting time for a new pair soon though. You can't beat 4 years out of work boots at all. Sure they may be $200 but over 4 years it's average.
